Wal-mart Reset/Clearance

Post by tyconut » Tue Aug 12, 2008 9:37 pm

Just got home from Wal-mart. Their doing their fall reset. Picked up a set and a half of the 1/32 DAK figures for $3. each. (all they had) They were still marking stuff down when I left. I'll be going back to check tomorrow.

Yes, there are three new empty pegs for the figures in the isle.

Saturday night the WM which is usually lousy for 21C had lots of stuff on clearance. Hetzers, Marders, FWs, P-51Ds and ME-109s for $11, Panther and Stuart sets for $15 and figures for $3. I cleaned house and got some odd looks at the checkout stand.

Thats OK because I rarely find the good deals. I was worried this marked the end of 21C at WM but last night I went to another WM and everything was still full price. 8)

All the peg price stickers still show full price at two of my local WalMarts but they scan at the discounted price so don't be so sure yet!

Sorry Oli. Trying to figure out WalMart will make your head explode like that guy in the movie Scanners so hopefully I am wrong. Especially since there is still no sign of 21st at the two Targets here.

I did make to walmart yesterday. The reset is done. Nothing else was on clearance. :( (I did scan)

The space for the 1/32 veihicles is gone.

They had or had tags for,

1/18 figures
1/32 figures
1/32 play sets (old ones)
1/32 aircraft. (a bunch of old ME109s are on the shelf now)
1/48 vehicles
1/114 vehicles

At least one of my local Wal Marts is discounting the 21c items. Got a "Red 19" FW-190 and an RAF P-51 for $11 each, as well as a set of Platoon figures for $4 each 8)

Wow, if we could get together with the other six people who remember that movie we could have a party! Where did you dig up the Scanners reference? I think that was released in 1986 or something!

neverkissedawomanonthelips.com has confirmed that 36 copies were released on betamax format in 1981. Two went to Washington, three to Florida and the remaining 31 to Kentucky. Go figure.

I guess we belong to an elite club then.

Today I was at the WM in town and they appeared to be done with their reset. Anyhow, there was an abundance of 32x on the shelves with more room for play sets and aircraft. Still all the same sets and birds though. Also same old "extra-crispy tanned" German figures. Nothing discounted at all but the sheet was there and that is their allocated space so at least know I know that WM be carrying plenty of bubbletop Thunderbolts and Operation Torch play sets for the foreseeable future.

I got a really nice spitfire today, and it was unusual.

I went to a Wal-Mart that's known as Ethnic Mart, as it literally holds the mixture of everyone, everywhere. Usually it doesn't bode much in the way of planes or tanks, but today I found the second Spit I've seen anywhere, and it was NICE. That Wal-Mart actually used to be such a dump, but they've really made it nice, widened the isles and such.

It was wierd. I was going through the usual 21st section, and cursed as I already had all those planes, and walked on in defeat, looking to the side and all the way down the isle there were two planes to the top left, a 190 and a Spit. :) I guess they had started moving them, it was a marked location for them. If I had walked the other way... <.<
