Not the answer from Unimax I was looking for…
QUESTION:
I wanted to ask if you knew when will the 1/18 Bravo Tiger 1 #70004 be available again? It has been out of stock quite a while at Target.
ANSWER 8/11/2008:
I do not have the schedule when Tiger I will be available again. The next run will be Abrams. We should move back to Tiger I after the Abrams.

The sign of a great model is that one’s eye is not drawn to any one feature, yet one can study it for hours and continually find something new.

It is a price increase, but in many ways, it really is not abnormal. The BBI M1 Abrams sold for $50 when they first came out at TRU and the small retailers, and that was five years ago. Further, the BBI tank offered pretty much the same features and level of detail as the FOV tank, and the FOV tanks have better paint schemes. So, while it is a price increase, it is not as bad as it could be. Count your lucky stars that they are no $80 like the 21c Panther tanks

Holy cow, a 100% price increase?
Is this a case of Target mispricing an item? Or have they and Unimax been looking at ebay prices for the first wave?
I've got to say, I really want to get my hands on a few Tigers but I think $40 is way overpriced for what we get. Lets face it, the FOV quality is sub-par. The only reason I think they did well was the price point.

I picked up the Sherman for $19.95 Monday...I doubt that the Tiger will shoot up in price...at least I hope not. I totally agree $39.99 would be way too much $ for what you get especially if you don't have the time to bring them up to snuff.
The FOV Bravo AFV’s are a fine line (esp. the Tiger) ...but you have to remember that they are diamonds in the rough...they DO need detailing and tweeking to become a gem. Once done though, (and kept in a safe place from outside forces of destruction) they blow away the competition hands down.

If inflation lasts more than 4 hours, call your economist...
If the price rise is indeed not a glitch, it might be Unimax revisiting an old strategy...when FOV introduced their 1/32 stuff at WM, their prices were pretty low, when they got established, they started charging quite a bit more...deja vu all over again...?

GOOD NEWS!!
$39.99 is NOT the official price! (Well in SoCal that is...)
Today I invaded Northern Orange County, only 2 Targets in the region have the Abrams in stock, the Whittier Target at the Whittwood Mall and the Buena Park Target above Knott's Berry Farm.
Both Targets had the retail price of $29.99, I also double-checked on the price scanner and it still reads $29.99.
Here's a mugshot from the Whittier Target I went too:

I think the $39.99 price is only in certain regions.
Stug, you said that the Shermans in your AO were $21.99 but dropped to $19.99 recently, but over here in SoCal they are all still $21.99, they have never dropped.
I think a sure indicator of the Abrams' price is dependent on the price of the Shermans and Bradleys in the region. Similar to how which Target had the FOV clearance for 1:32 and 1:72 scales.
If the Shermans and Bradleys are still $21.99 the Abrams will appear at $29.99.
If the Shermans and Bradleys are $19.99, the Abrams will be at $39.99.
Side-by-side comparison of the Abrams' and Sherman's price from the same location:

Originally I was a bit annoyed with the price increase for the Shermans and Bradleys, but looking at my theory, I think this is a better trade-off to keep the Abrams and maybe the Tiger at $29.99.

1/18 Scale FOV Stryker
Has anyone here heard any new information regarding when Unimax anticipates releasing the 1/18 FOV Stryker? Haven't heard anything new on it other than it may or may not be released.
Any help or intel would be greatly appreciated.

Love the paintjob... I wish FOV would go a step further with their vehicles and just make the gear on the hull removable. If they could do just that small thing, I think the tanks would be very customizeable and more realistic.
Still I'm jonesin' for that Tiger. I like the paintjob a lot on that and it'll look nice on a shelf with my Panzer greys... Wish I had a winter one to spice it up a bit further is all.

Completed the final half of my campaign in Orange County. Had to defer going to the Irvine & and Santa Ana Targets through.
2 desert camo Bradleys availabe at the Garden Grove Target, 3 d.c. Bradleys at the Costa Mesa Target Greatland, 1 woodland camo Bradley in the Cerritos Target Greatland... although its been ripped open.
Nothing at the Huntington Beach Target, just a pair of plain green Shermans.
Only one new location for the Abrams, at the Westminster Target at the Westminster Mall directly next to the 405 San Diego Freeway. Two on the shelf, still at $29.99.
So far all the Targets that have Shermans and Bradleys all still retail at $21.99 in SoCal.

I give it 50/50. They cancelled their 1:32 Stryker, but then we have heard that they plan to go forward with the 1:18 version. Not sure on the logic, but it may mean a thread of hope.
After visiting Fort Lewis a few weeks ago and getting a chance to see several Strykers up close and personal, I want one in 1:32 or 1:18 scale more than ever! I got the 1:72 MRC version, which is great and may wind up getting the 1:35 Trumpeter kit, but a 1:18 version would be most appreciated!
