New Howitzer Playset?

Post by Rowsdower » Fri Aug 01, 2008 7:28 pm

Probably missed the train but I noticed at WM a playset I have never seen before with a Howitzer, figures holding charges and loading the gun and a bunch of shells and what not. It seemed to be different than the earlier one. Anyhow I was in Star Wars and GI Joe mode and can't remember the name or which one of the howitzers it was.

Like I said I may be way off, I got a one track mind.

You spotted a new one. The old one came with the listening post figures.

A-ha so I wasn't seeing things! The set looked pretty neat, I will have to pick one up.

Oh cool, yes this is new, they announced the loading figures awhile back. Nice find Rowsdower. What does the actual Howitzer look like? Is it the same as the others?

I can't remember which one it was, I don't think it was the Long Tom. I passed on the artillery pieces when they were initially released because every one I found was broken or just a mess in one way or another. The one In the play set seemed to be ok though.

Edit - Here is a pic I just found 2 playsets today at my local Wal Mart and these sets have the Long Tom + 3 new figs. So is this the one you found Rowsdower?

Yea Jagd, that is the set! I was going to say it was a Long Tom but you beat me to it. :P I saw two today at a WM in my AO.
You are luckier than I am because the two I found were both stinkers. One was a really obvious return with scotch tape sealing and loose wire ties, the whole thing was bangin' around in the box. The other didn't look so hot so I passed on that one too. I hate when you finally find something and it's a dud but that's the way it goes with this stuff.

That looks absolutely fabulous. I only have one each of the big arty and wouldn't mind doubles. Especially with the new crews and shells!

Tman, how long until we see them? Six months? Never?

Stranger things have happened in the past and we've found things shortly after they appeared east of the continental divide, but given the recent track record, it will probably be six months. All those boardmembers living in the decrepit parts of the country that get all the XD stuff first will then be whining for something new :P

I spotted it at Wal-Mart today. It is a new paint job, really just a different "name", though I can't remember what it says on the barrel. I think it was Long Shot.

Yeah, long shot. If I find one that doesn't look like a five year old assembled it I will snatch it up.

My walmart has two, but they didn't have names on them.
