Post by Cabe » Thu Jul 17, 2008 12:16 pm

I am trying to remove the wings of a 1:18 21st c stuka to ship.
The effers will not come off, any idea how they come off without breaking the sob?
the ailerons are off the front wings will not budge

Man I never was able to get mine off. It wanted to pull the plane apart. 21C out did them selves with the wing mount that’s for sure. I would have to say it will break if you try to pull too hard.

Here are a few shots of the wing root . Simply squeeze the wing and pull out. There is a little gap that alows the wing tabs to be squeezed.

well its not, but its a heck of a lot easier when you KNOW that's how they come off and that makes you confident that they WILL come off.

It gives you that extra umph to get the dang things off without thinking "Oh $%#@ I am going to break this" and back off afraid of doing just that.

My first wing was hard to get off but i did it with my hand and once i saw movement I just popped t off, loud snap, no damage.

second wing too screwdriver shoved in there and a lot more forces and 30 mins of cursing then a very loud pop and no damage.

so no, it isn't that easy, but it better than thinking they won't come off.

i even used 2 clamps with a pieces of wood between them appllying pressure to top and bottom of the wing to no results

it was a battle..

now if only stuka wings stayed on as well in RL.

yeah, even seeing the tabs doesn't necessairly help...when I tried to pull mine off, I got one wing off relatively easy, and the second wing, well, I kept pulling and pulling and wedged a screwdriver in there, and it simply would not come undone. I ended up just shipping it with one wing still on, because I certainly didn't want to break it before i even sent it to the person....
