It's definitely a fairly crude item in terms of detailing, but it's only $5.00.

No offense, but the PTE is a poor substitute for what should be a FANTASTIC sidecar/motorcycle combo...

There is a battlepack rumor for Indiana Jones that would, if it turns out to be true, include a Sidecar motorcycle... You just have to be patient because Hasbro is trying to spread this around some to keep the line's life going as best they can.

Ultimately I think they're gonna have a tough time keeping IJ going if they can't clear up the pegs right now though. It's a pretty much collector-only line at this point I'm afraid.

In other news, check out this...

http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/inde ... rdseen#new

This guy made a flying wing and tank... Pretty slick.

Also I'm not sure if it was noticed or not but we reported on www.JediDefender.com last week (I think it was) that the tank is showing up on retailer lists with a 3-figure pack-in to boot. Also the rocket sled and some other items have turned up and are possibly/probably coming. The tank should be interesting. If they're packing a lot of figures in, it's not going to be a $20 vehicle assortment item... I'd expect bigger then.

Yes, clearing the pegs is a problem that needs to be addressed. Far, far too many Indy and Mutt figures out there for my liking. The new wave with Vogel, Henry Jones Sr. etc is darn near impossible to find and as a consequence I've not been purchasing any of the IJ figures for the past few weeks. It seems like Hasbro may have over estimated the popularity the new IJ film was going to bring to the franchise. The movie seems to have tanked and with it, the average consumer's interest in all things Indy.

However, I like possibility that there will be a tank and motorcycle/sidecar. If the tank looks good, it will be very much worth it and could fit in with the rest of our 1:18 vehicles. The little Titanium series tank is neat and a big one will certainly be cool

I haven't even tried too hard to find the new IJ figures because all the pegs are stuffed FULL, full to the point of bursting at WM. I forsee plenty of figures on clearance in the future.

Anyone regret buying Russians at $7 a pop when they first came out? I have a feeling I will have an entire platoon of them for half off someday.

The movie seems to have tanked
You sure about that?

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id ... jones4.htm

IJ's popularity as a toy line is pretty much going to rely on adults at some point, and I think Hasbro took that into consideration, but they're definitely loaded at retail with basic figures. However, that's just (at least in my recons) Wal-Mart who stupidly picked up that island display and things.

TRU and Target here are pretty well depleted of most IJ stuff, or they've got only modest numbers on the pegs... WM's a deluge. Lots of great figures and if they hit clearance I'd go wild buying what I could, but they're to the point the pegs are overflowing.

I don't think the movie or toy line has either one tanked though, not by a longshot. The question is, can they get the pegs down to normal quantities so new stuff can get out there... WM's the only one facing this problem though, so they need to do a clearance to move what they can, or a bogo sale or something. That'd open up some space for sure.

I do think KotCS figures are pretty doomed right now... I dread the Mutt on bike screwing the other Deluxe figures for the future. :( [/code]

When I found the new figures (or at least two of the six) they were mixed in with about 100 or more of the first wave in a nice little aisle display. This was at a Wal Mart some distance from my house and not in my normal AO.

On another note, that custom tank and especially the flying wing that Jesse linked from the jedidefender board are amazing :D

Yeah, if you read how he did the wing, it sounds painstaking... I felt he didn't detail the guns nearly enough as he should've (especially for all the rest of the work he did ont he plane), and the tank is pretty perfect actually... Both could use a little more paint work I think, but both are nice items built from scratch. That's a lotta work on both those and the plane just sounded painstakingly tough to do.

Has anyone customized the cairo thugs 2-pack yet? Knowing this crowd, I can see something involving RPGs and AK-47s...

Hasbro's own distribution is at fault for the situation we're seeing on the pegs right now.

TWO Mutt figures, one of which wasn't even in the movie? Um, WHY?

There's no way they could have honestly felt that this character would demand such treatment. Sure, one figure, fine. A deluxe version with a bike, fine. But two basic figs? Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Sometimes I wonder if they have secret directives from Lucasfilm to push certain characters and concepts no matter how foolish.

And the current and future case assortments don't look good, either.

They should be shipping Henry and Vogel in droves, not one per case packed in with other crap that has been pegwarming for months.

Yeah, it does look like they could very well be killing the line with this stupidity. Which is too bad, I'd love to see it continue for years.

That said, it has become nigh impossible to find many other figures in the past few weeks, so maybe that's a good thing. Other than Mutts and Indys, other figures have been in very short supply.

The rumors about the upcoming items really sound enticing (save the rocket sled - yawn) and the ToD wave looks fantastic.

I know I'll be getting everything I can get my hands on while it lasts.

Well I personally have not seen the new movie(crystal skull), mostly because to go to see it at the theater, it would cost more for the two of us(Mrs. Blasto and I) for tickets, popcorn and gas - don't forget the gas prices   than it would to wait and buy the movie on DVD when it first comes out at Worst buy for what, $15.99 or somethin' So I think it's a no-brainer :? Just wait to see the movie on DVD and see it as many times as you want too without the hassle of going to the theater :P

As for figures,
New things would be cool, yes. My most voted for would be the motor cycle with sidecar. And yes, I did buy some of those Maurader kits, but I can't seem to get the wheels off of the Indy motorcycle to change them out :o  Making the sidecar longer is no big deal and I found some other cycles at Wally World to change out the wheels, but Damn, I can't get the wheels off of the indy bike :x  So I got frustrated and moved on to other projects  The flying wing would be cool, but doubt it would come out in 1/18 :( The tank, maybe, but who would have it on their front line in WWII :?: Poland maybe :? O well, I'd buy a few when they come out and mark 'em up for the Frenchie's    Good target practice for my Kittys  I will buy, if they try- that is to make more stuff for the Indy line  8) Da General

One of my local Wal-Marts' has lowered the price for the IJ figures to $6.58, but the Deluxes went up to $10.96.

Theres to many indy & mutt figs go on clearance already.

I wonder what hasbro is going to do about these peg warmers?

how is hasbro going to keep this line going if all the pegs are full with waves 1. 2. 3.

I only found one wm here that had wave 4 and they only got one case in.

New Hasbro Q&A Session

IndianaJonesCollectors: With The Last Crusade hitting shelves now and the Temple of Doom wave hitting in September, what else can we expect from the 3 3/4" Indiana Jones line in 2008? We've seen pictures of two new deluxe sets (Mutt w/ Bike & Cairo Thugs) and the Akator Playset, anything else to look forward to in 2008?

Hasbro: We have indeed been front-loaded this year, as expected for a movie year. The next news for 3-3/4" will be in Spring 2009, and we should have pics to preview at Comic Con.

IJC: Do you have any plans to release Temple of Doom deluxe sets? I think items such as the sacrifice cage or the mine car would go great with any collection!

H: We agree, and there is a good chance at least one of those items will make it out in 2009.

IJC: How soon do you plan on releasing the second wave of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull basic figures? Are any of the following characters on your radar: Mac, Oxley, Army disguised Russians or the Alien? I would think all would be logical choices!

H: There will be a few more KOTCS figures later in 2009. A couple of your figures are in the works.

I haven't seen the Vogel, Elsa or Dr. Jones Sr. figures yet. TRU and Target in my AO only have a hand full figs and most are the mutt Figure with snake.
