Ok one morequestion for advice from1:18 crowd...dioramas?

If I was to start making some 1/18th diorama bases for your vehicles,
what would you prefer at this point? smow desert, grassy, road, paved, dirt, rocky ?

and then the base size, how big would be big enough for your display needs? I am not looking to go nuts with these until I get a good set of molds and such to flesh them out, but for just a display base... would it need to be flat or can it be hilly (slight grade at this size I know) and would you be willing to buy one? and is it worth my time as in, how much would you pay for a decent terrain base?
you can pm me that $ info if you want. I ask to avoid the ebay scourge and would rather people get what they want instead of bidding against others in an auction and hoping a base you desire pops out of the factory.
I might start one today that is a dirt road with a tree or just some shrubs.
I just need to know if they are worth my time if I made them. Because I do make them. Here are some of my 1:30,1:32 1:35 sized bases.

Hmmm, a 1:18 Dio Base is a hard sale. For one they tend to take up too much space for permenent dislpay. Another problem is weight, they cost too much to ship. I found that out the hard way, when we were working on the UGP for Star Wars Celebration last year. My advice is, don't waste effort on Dios when Vehicles are much more productive.

I agree. Although your dios are very realistic looking and appear well made, the size and the cost to ship them would be prohibitive, at least for me, to purchase any.

While the dio bases look great, a dio in 1/18 would be far larger. It would be great if your collection was only a few vehicles but the majority of us collectors put a premium on shelf space......... (except of course plane guys who put a premium of ceiling space..

I agree with the points that others have made.
I have a "shelf" dio table myself for displaying which will be changable to some extent. If you really want to get into the business of selling times for dio.s - such as brick walls, large/medium size leafy trees, bridges, etc., I think folks would be more apt. to buy those components(sp?) of a diorama. I know I need some tall (12- 16" tall) oak or leafy type of trees, maybe taller to do my Arden scenes. Be nice to have some more blown up buildings too

That's what I'd be looking for

I spend most of my hobby time scratch building new tanks and vehicles or custom figures. I run out of time to build scenery items

I really like your dio bases you make.
Very realistic.

Is there a way you could pre-make the elements and sell in a kit form for the buyer to add to their own base?

I would be interested in sections of wall or part of a building.
If you could find a way to make it light enough, but sturdy I think you might have a good seller.

I have some buiding and wall sections out of hard stryofoam. They were made be a very talented guy in TN. He sold them on Ebay and I emailed him about certain things. He made me, a trench, wall sections, bunker and many other items. I have not heard from him in awhile nor have I seen anything on Ebay from him.
