after reading the large scale planes forum i cam across another realisation from this fine gentleman ! after an amazing scratch built F7F tigercat and a non the less amazing Super Corsair FG2 conversion here is something more doable ....

hm......never heard of that mistel combination before. Is it made up? He-111's carried V-1's but never heard of FW-190's doing it. Interesting idea i guess.

I have a DML 1/48th model of an Arado 234B with the V1 carried on it's back and launched by a swing arm that pivoted up for release (think centerline bomb cradle on the Ju-87 Stuka upside down). The model is of a concept that never flew. There were other air-launch concepts proposed, but none made it much past the "working-on-it" stage (except the air-launch from an He-111). The only Mistel (mistletoe) aircraft to actually fly and be used in combat was the Me-109/Ju-88 combo that turned out to be a dismal failure. Still....the idea is interesting!

I have the book on Mistels . I am lazy right now and don't feel like going to get it. I think your right this was a fantasy thing. To be any way kind of close it should be the 190a . Most of the 190 Mistels were with the Moskito and Ju 88. And there were only a couple made with the Moskito. It does look cool though.

The builder states that it is just a concept and his idea of what the proposed combination might have looked like if it had ever been flown.

"This model made from reference pictures is a concept of what might have been."

The fact that it never existed doesn't take anything away from the model. It's a very ingenious use of existing 1:18 aircraft to create something totally new.

It's still paper-projekt NaziFanboy thing.

Think about it. the closest thing to the V1 the Ohka was still launched from a twin engined bomber..the G4M Betty...never from a Hayate or george or Zero.

This would never fly...the flight characteristics of the Fw would be shot to hell and it would be a lumbering POS in the air with this attached. The Ju 88 mistril assited in flight with it's own power and a more balanced object drapped under the controlling fighter.

I know this board is more toyboys than historybuffs. but to make another point when the Fw 190As and 109s added gunpods and the later 21cm Wurfer pods their performance went downhill with the drag and added weight, this wold be the belly tank from hell to fly with.

i agree panzer M but there is a trend since a few years and numerous books about some secret nazi project of mass destruction weapon and this project (FW190 + V1) seems crazy but fit the general fashion of this "secrets" developpement.

Of course i like historic details but the work of this fine gentleman is amazing none the less !

(You will find in kit some craziest airplane in all scales and this one custom again fit the mood ... like nazi's stuff in Indiana jones movies !)

The next custom is of course to build an Heinkel 111 to attach under the peagsus model !!!!!

I like these What-If projects even if they were only on paper. You know if they had more time,Germany would have put many of them into production. Good thing we won.

I blew up some plans of the Horton 229 flying wing it is large and cool. Use the engines out of the Me -262 and the wheels from a Me-109 and you have started.
