The Military toy shop has updated the status of the Dauntless

.... they also have raised the pre-order price from $64.99 to $69.99.

see below*
UPDATE 06/20/08 We received a call from Jim
the President of Admiral Toys. He assured us
that the SBD is still their #1 priority but
progress is moving at a very slow pace. Weakening
American dollar, increasing oil prices, Major
earthquakes, 2008 Beijing Olympics, and increased
labor costs are major factors to blame. He did
mention that positive moves are happening for
Admiral Toys and it will not be too long before
they are running on all cylinders once again.
It sounds like the future for Admiral Toys and
1:18 Aircraft is very bright!

Wow, the SBD Dauntless model is moving at a slow pace? Could have fooled me.

Labor costs, plastic costs, earthquakes, Olympics. Boo hoo, hoo. Cry me a freaken river. All companies are faced with this. Does AT think they are exclusively targeted by these things? It's kind of like saying, that you couldn't empty the trash because it was raining out, yet your neighbors still managed. I guess AT is the only company affected by globalism. If I'm not mistaken, this is the exact same update as the last three.
I don't blame MT, in fact I think they are in the middle.
My preorder is still out there, I think, but I may cancel and order when this thing becomes reality.

This has to be the best preorder blunder so far.

I wonder what the price increase means for those of us that paid $64.99?

I am not sure but $5 is worth it if it helps getting these things to us sooner.

I agree, I just think it would be nice if they honor their original price. BTW, what happened to their Skyraider? Now that will be an awesome 1/18 plane if they ever release it.

Well, at least we know the dauntless is still around. I was afraid it was cancelled or something. Even so, we still don't know what's going on with the Skyraider.

I'm not cancelling my preorder, that makes no sense. MTS has all them logged & you don't get billed till it ships anyway so why cancel. Also if you PO'd for $65 then that's what you're gonna pay.

it's great to have confirmation that the Dauntlass is still going to happen. The Skyraider is too (confirmed in another thread).
Those of us who have been in this hobby for a few years now know about the long delays that can happen, especially among smaller toy companies that just don't command the same factory priorities as Hasbro, etc.
If they honour the pre-order price that's great but 5 bucks is hardly worth cancelling for. We've seen enormous price increases from 21c, so a $5 increase sounds like a discount....lol.

If you want to know how that affects your pre-order - then call them at MTS. They have always been great to deal with and have always worked well with me. Just don't call and blast them for these issues that our out of their control. I would bet that they are willing to work with their customers that are sticking in there with the pre-order. Just my $.02

The whiners always bitch and moan about the time it takes to deliver on a project like this.
I say take what time is needed to deliver us a good product, because these same whiners are the ones that will pick it apart when it get here.

I agree. $69 is a lot better than $80!!! Still within the realm of affordability, that's for sure.

Me too, I think this one will blow the Avenger away.. I'd say if you've got your PO in with MTS on their exclusive SBD I'd keep it there. Would sure suck to cancel it then when it gets released you don't get one coz they're sold out...
