Sahara! Sahara! Wherefore are thou, Sahara?

Post by Morian Miner » Thu Apr 28, 2005 2:52 pm

So, any idea when we'll see the Sahara figures? That movie's going to be in the video store before we see anything, I'm afraid. Maybe we'll see it released in conjunction with the Sky Captain P40

I second that. I think I can wait for the Sahara stuff as well.

Are the sky captain/sahara lines going to be released through wm? If so, I can't see much shelf space being allocated to movies that have long since been released. IMO, the greatest motivating factor for buying a movie-inspired item is of course the move itself. Now that the hub-bub for both movies has pretty much died down, I'm not sure that buyers are going to be motivated to purchase either of the lines. As a result, sales will probably be less than expected, sadly hurting 21st in the process.

Hey, aren't we supposed to get a re-release of the M-48 in OD green....I don't want a Sahara version. If that's all we're getting I guess then maybe, and I'll have to paint it. :(

Got around to seeing Sahara. I liked the movie, but then I liked National Treasure also. My kind of crowd, six people in the theater. I guess it's time to go to DVD, so maybe 21c can release the tie-in products???

Can't see what the hold up is, no new products, just repaints. Besides a WW2 Jeep, which was NOT in the movie, the Huey and M-48 are repaints. They had more scenes with M-113's, why not repaint that?

Why announce a tie-in and then come out with????NOTHING.

Maybe 21st is having second thoughts about releasing the products, now that the movie is all but forgotten. Plus, Star Wars is coming out in the next few weeks. Bye-Bye Sahara.

They would then have to wait for the Sahara DVD release and the short-lived promo that accompanies such events.

Also, here we are talking about Sahara, but what about the Sky Captain P-40?? That is nearly six months overdue! When it finally shows up, the little kids will be wondering if Sky Captain has something to do with Star Wars - so long forgotten will the latter film have become...

I really wanted the Patton tank and the figures just because they looked cool. I didn't even bother to see the movie. Hopefully they will show up some day.

At least the SC p-40 has gone up for presale at a few places, namely BCA and SBP, but have nowhere have I seen any presale info for the Sahara line.

Maybe retailers, both WM and online, are a little hesitant to carry Sahara now that so much time has passed. I know I'd be.

Selling presales means nothing. My presale for the Avenger is now over a year old. A YEAR OLD and still no signs of the Avenger.

I'm glad I didn't clear up shelf space for my Avenger. I'll wait but I'm not holding my breath.
