Another project. 20mm Flak field piece

Post by General Blasto » Sun Jun 08, 2008 8:09 pm

Ok, so I'm a bit bored
But I wanted to see what I could come up with as far as a 20mm Flak type field piece that could be towed and moved around by a couple troops, like the one on Saving Pvt. Ryan. Now these are in progress pictures, so it has a ways to go ;) I started with a 20mm from off of a pioneerwagon and mated with a Pak40 trailer and mount. Tell me what you think so far  Da General

carriage is way to big..manhandling it with a crew would be a problem.

the system you see in the movie is just a 2cm FlaK 38 with the gun's organic Sd.Ah 52 trailer, just not deployed as a fixed ground mount..much smaller and lighter than a PaK40 carriage.

Ok, I was afraid of that
How about this, I have a 1/35 PAK40 kit. How about using that for the trailer ??? I could use the PAK40 1/18 for my 37mm Flak project which will be next 8) Da General

You could use a set of wheels from a 1/32 88. Seperate the 2 wheels that are connected into each just one wheel. You could then build your own trailer in between the two wheels.

agreed....carriage would be impossible for men to handle.

Try this:

i got one of these years ago on sale with the intent of using the trailer to mount a custom 20mm on. Would take some mods, depending on how accurate you want to get but would look pretty good and much better than the pak carriage.

Have no fear. I know there were other guns mounted on the pak carriage. Can't think of any off hand but a search or a question on missing-lynx would reveal the answer.

Sounds like a plan and I'm searching for a CHEAP 1/32 scale 88 to use the carraige. Perhaps I can use the gun on a kitbashed tank or something  Da General

21C makes a 1:32 88 kit. Wal Mart has quit selling most model kits but I still see it there occasionally in the same section where the rest of the 32X stuff is. I don't remember what it costs but I don't think it was over $15. Here's an E-tailer that has it for $20:

So for right now, this project is on hold until I can aquire a 1/32 88.
Kit sounds cheaper, but I'd rather have one all put together ;) Got enough stuff to bash for the gun mount on this project  Da General

According to the kit description it's prepainted and just snaps and screws together. I'm not sure if it comes in colors besides gray.

In completed form they have these two for the same price:
