I finished my 1:35 Tamiya Pak-40 today. I've still got the figures to do, but here's pics of the finished product, along with a 21c Sdkfz. 251. I messed up a few things along the way, since I haven't finished a kit since I was about 9 or 10.
What exactly did I screw up? Well, the gun doesn't slide. I don't know if glue got into it or what, but it doesn't slide anymore. It did before I put on the shield. The shield is slightly crooked, and the wheels don't roll because when I tried to carefully glue the inner rims, some excess glue ruined that. Everything else works, and I'm glad. It doesn't matter much anyway because I modeled it to be towed.
I was going to go just plain gray, but I white washed it. Then I said what the hell and white washed my Sdkfz. 251 that will be towing it. The next step is to create some sort of link between the Hanomag and the the little hole for a trailer hitch on the Pak-40.
They both turned out really nice, in my opinion, and I learned a few things as well. Tell me what you think, seeing as this is my first finished kit in almost 10 years.

I kind of got a bug, and I think I might be doing more.
I also don't know much about Pak-40s, is it really small? Or is it decently sized? The figures that came with it look really close to my 21c guys. I just started painting them, although I think I'm going to make them a Marder crew, and buy seperate winter artillery crewman.
Opinions?

Finished gun and shield.

97% complete, I had lost a small part in the carpet and let it rest for the night. You can also see the Hanomag before whitewash.

Whitewashed Hanomag and the Pak-40 "in-tow" (still need to come up with a way)

I've seen a few pictures where the silly crews of armored vehicles left the interior un-white washed, and I felt I'd model that.

The Pak-40 in all it's winter glory.

Close-up of the shield.

The gun, which is stuck, which technically isn't in position for towing, but I'm okay with it.

The finished ensemble.
What do you guys think? Size-wise and the way the white wash looks, as well as how everything came together in the kit. Let me know. I really got into this kit and I was having a rough night with things until I sat down and got to work on this. I think I have a new way to turn anger/frustration into art.
That 1:32 Huey kit that's sitting at Hobby Lobby... yeah, you... Next time.
