new photos---THE PACIFIC

Post by dragon53 » Sun Apr 06, 2008 2:37 pm

Here are new photos of the Tom Hanks/Steven Spielberg/HBO miniseries follow-on to BAND OF BROTHERS.
Among the photos: a wrecked Japanese plane, a Sherman tank, a battleship mockup under construction, various beachhead photos and Isabel Lucas, an Australian model who will appear in the miniseries. Some photos I can't post because they're copyrighted include a Japanese Type 95 tank and bodies at the entrance of a trench or foxhole.

Nice pics, this should be a good series, I'll definitely get it on DVD when it's available. The first pic of the plane chopped in half with the meatball painted on the side.... the front half looks like a WWII Dakota (military version of the DC-3) transport, I guess Betty bombers (if that's what this is supposed to represent) are in short supply.

First pic of the DC-3/C-47 is correct for a Jap plane. The Japanese copied the design in the 1930s. I forgot the name of the japanese model off hand. I'll have to look it up.

Why does the background in alot of those shots look more like the California foothills - with the dry grass and oak trees - than a tropical island in the South Pacific
