Any good references for weathering?

I can't seem to find the one or two I had, and I'm looking to weather mainly armor and some aircraft. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Try this site, the guy is very good, and just looking at some his pics should be helpful. Also, if you scroll down the list you'll see a folder near the bottom called "Modelling Techniques" and this has some info that should be useful for weathering. BTW, this was originally posted by our member Cabe, but I cant seem to locate the thread at the moment, and I had this link bookmarked, so here ya go.

Thanks Ostketten. I'm planning on doing some weathering tonight on some of my armor and maybe some aircraft since I'm taking a night to myself. I'm probably going to try and fix up that fudged up Firefly I did too, haha.

I'm practicing as much as I can, I want to be able to do it well, consistently and be really proud of my work. So I have to learn by doing it.

His tips are great. I was able to make a bland Stug pretty nice and while I'm still working at it, his tips helped me to take it slow. I'm doing everything in time, doing say, light washes at one time and then coming back later in the day and doing a heavy one, and maybe some mud.

I was actually able to take that mess I made of that Sherman Firefly and make it look like I intended at first. It looks like it was going along, went down a small slope into a hull-high pool of mud and was able to get out. It looks so much better now that I re-worked the mud on the running gear and hull.

While right now I can't afford to go out and buy what he suggests using, I make due with what I have, and it looks alright.

That is a nice site though. I found it doing an image search for the hetzer when trying to get a good look at our missing gun. Was a welcome find

I guess it proves sometimes you go digging for oil and instead find diamonds.

oh wait, I don't know if that still works. Whats the price of a barrel of oil today? Might have to switch that around.

FAQ of AFV modeling by Miguel Jimenez is the end all book for weathering an such (you won't find a better price than amazon.com), the "FAQ" DVDs that are coming out are very good too, i go the one on pigments and it is nice video to help fully understand the uses.
