Golden Compass figures at Big Lots

Post by olifant » Sat May 17, 2008 11:56 pm

Today I found all the Golden Compass figures at BigLots for $4 each. I didn't have any of these yet so I was glad to get them at a discount. These are some big, beefy figures!

Go get 'em boys!

The only figure available on-line is the Tartar Soldier. All the other 1/18 figures are "Temporarily Not Available Online!"

You might have to hit a couple to get everything, if you are in the market for them. I found all the figures except for the male and female archer at one, then found the male archer at a second store.

The second store had a good stock of the airship but I had to pass. Even at $15 I am not sure what I would do with it.

For six dollars the armored polar bears are pretty cool. They look good next to my Narnia creatures. All of these figures, while not very articulated, are exceptionally well done. I think detail is the best I have seen in 3 3/4".

I would love to see someone's pics of armored polar bears (from Golden Compass) attacking some DAK troops...or maybe a bunch of IJ German soldiers defending an IJ truck.

If I may suggest, the one dude (the main hero) has some decent winter gear on for possible use on Eastern or Ardennes figures, but if you're willing to shell out cash for an accessory, his goggles are simply outstanding for figures. The headsculpt is very nice also.

I use these figures for Star Wars customs, they're great and with the right parts can be made poseable (they're pretty poorly articulated on their own however), but their gear is quite nice. Only one I never got was the Sam Elliot figure.

The Mauser pistol is nice also (Tartar soldier had one?) and I gave one over to one of my Falschimjagers as I know I saw a photo of a para running around with one once. Figured one of my paras was due to get this exotic pistol.

Thanks for the tip, I may go check BL out sometime soon. $4 isn't too cheap but it's better than paying shipping to TRU right now, as the stores are dry on these.

Now Hasbro, make us some Head Sculpt & Endor Uniform variations! The new Rebel Fleet Trooper gets the JJ Seal of Approval Though!
