That is good looking. It would almost be worth the spend to get a BBI German pilot; I love their aviators. But the price! 69 Euros?
Ouch! 21C isn't the only one with price increases!

Well, if that is the Bf-109 that BBI winds up making, I just might have to get it should the chance arise. They seem to have smartly made it an earlier G variant and given it a North African paintscheme to boot. Its different enough from the 21c plane, has the correct antenna, and what seems to be a great-looking pilot figure.

Keep in mind BBI's F-4J is online-sales only and I think the limited edition F6F Cat Mouth is, too.
I hope BBI continues to sell through ToysRUs to provide a lower-price alternative to online-only sales, but the BBI F-4J suggests otherwise.
Dude you are a kill joy. Say it aint

PICKELHAUBE:
When BBI first released the 1/32 F-4J, I emailed Merit's sales office and asked them if the F-4J was onlone only or would be sold in ToysRUS, too. The Merit sales rep said there were no plans for the F-4J to be sold by ToysRUS, etc for that year. So far in 2008, the F-4J is still online-sales only.
I'm worried that the 1/32 SBD, F4F and F-104 will be online-only, too. I think the 1/32 SBD and F4F (around $40 each)are over-priced compared to 21st Century's 1/32 planes which are only $15 at Wal-Mart.

Actually, that's their regular price for 1/18 aircraftolifant wrote:That is good looking. It would almost be worth the spend to get a BBI German pilot; I love their aviators. But the price! 69 Euros?![]()

looks good....i'll believe it when i see it. This is the same site that reported a bbi 1/18 Hind in 2004. They also have a bavarian f-104 in 1/18, which i suspect is actually the bbi 1/32 model.
Nice scheme though.....if it does come out i'll definitely get it. BBI will have scooped 21c on this scheme....unless it now magically appears from 21st in the next few months. I'm actually wondering if it is the 21c plane. Odd that bbi would make a 109g as well, when they know the market has been saturated with the 21c version. Could be a misprint calling it bbi? Why not make an E model, or a Fw-190A for that matter, if they're going to start making german planes. Why make a copy of a very good model that already exists?

Aferg,
Although it isn't an impressive difference, I think the BBi Me-109 is an F version, and definitely different from the 21st century version.

From the picture at Warbirdmodel you can tell it is a different tooling, with characteristic bbi paneling lines and rivets.(not to mention the pilot)
I assume like with most 1:18th aircraft BBi had this in the works for years. Just as the zero was the natural counter part for their celebrated Corsair, it only made sense for them to have planned a German axis aircraft to follow the P-51. So this was probably in the works during or before the 21st century version. I just hope that this isn't a kind of european exclusive. It'd be nice if we saw it listed on one of the American based e-tailers.
As for the Bavarian F-104... If you look in the 1/18th scale database there is a picture of a 21st century prototype in Bavarian markings... And there has been recent talk about about a repaint in that scheme.
the 109 in the picture is definitely a 'G' model; although i agree it looks diff't from te 21c version. It's just that bbi would never make german planes before, because they couldn't sell them in a mass retailer but i agree it has probably been in the works for years. If this does well maybe they will make a 190A. Somebody has to.
Strange 21c would make another german f-104 repaint when the marineflieger version didn't exactly fly off the shelves. This may be a euro exclusive however.
