Man I can't believe this

Post by tosborne3 » Wed Apr 16, 2008 7:30 pm

Okay so it's just another rant. www.toynewsi.com has got an action figure poll that they have been running for the past few weeks. I vote on it every chance I get. Basically it's a poll to see if your favorite line of action figures was produced what scale would you rather see them in; 6 inches or 3 3/4 inches. The 6 inch scale of figures has been in the lead ever since the poll started. What are these people, 12 year olds? Don't they know that 1/18th scale is the only great collectable scale?? I do like the 1/6 scale, but it's too big for me. I just can't believe that many people would choose a 6 inch scale over our beloved 1/18. It shows you where the mass market really is. :D Okay I'm done ranting now. I feel better.

Isn't 6 inches 1/12th scale?

Yeah, 6" is 1/12th scale.

You have to consider the people that primarily patronise that site aren't there for 1/18 military figures. Comic and movie figures seem to be the main focus and with the exception of Star Wars and a few other movie figure lines those subjects are dominated by 6" figures. Still I voted in the poll and the 6" figures aren't that far in the lead. As far as the mass market is concerned you can't deny the popularity of 3.75" figures when it comes to the GI Joe and Star Wars lines. When I go to Wally World or a toy store 6" figures from Marvel Legends and the latest Super Heroe movie seem to be everywhere. However there always seems to be a healthy population of 3.75" Joes and SW figures on the pegs. Unfortunately the population of 3.75" military figures always seems to have been ethnically cleansed :(

The 6" figures aren't ahead by that many votes. As of 0655 hrs 6" is leading by 87 votes with a total of 3451 votes cast.

Yeah, I know they're not leading by that many, but the problem is they are leading! I'm basically trying to get the word out to all my 1/18th brothers and sisters to vote for their favorite line. We can't let the 6 inch scale win. Booyah!! :D

Yeah...but then look at the sheer size of the action figure collectors out there--marvel, spawn, movies, etc. Six inch works out well with them.
