Delta Force helicopters?

Post by dragon53 » Sun Apr 13, 2008 4:25 pm

Does anyone know if Delta Force normally uses the A/MH-6 "Little Bird" or OH-58 "Kiowa" helicopters?

Delta does not have any Helicopters as a unit..but they use others to make the mission. Yes they do use Little Birds..... Never the 58s, Sometimes Super Hueys and others...in both Military and Civilian configurations.

Thanks. That's what I read somewhere, but the article was relatively old. I'm glad the info is still relevant.

No problem. I'm a maintainer/instructor in a Spec Ops Helicopter unit. I fix/teach so the choppers can support the Delta/SEALS/Rangers/Special Forces & More in doing the mission.

Why no Kiowas? I am assuming they will sometimes hitch a ride on CH-53s?

Kiowas are good Scouts..they do not have the powerplant for troops. A stripped 58 can not bring in 6 PAX like a MH-6.

2 more questions:

1. Does Delta Force use the MH-6 more often than the AH-6 (I would think so since the MH-6 is more of a troop carrier than the AH-6)
2. Compare the BBI AH-6 vs. BBI MH-6.

Thanks for the good info

It all depends on the Mission. Delta can use anything they want.

The BBI Littlebird with the FLIR turret is 100% not what we use. the Israli version is set up more the way the toy is.

Thanks.

1. But does Delta wind up using the MH-6 more than the AH-6?
2. Would you review the 2 BBI 1/18 models--the AH-6 vs MH-6?

All the Birds can be configured any way we want.. We can add the side racks for troops or put in the rocket pods and or guns.

The 2 toys are basicly the same thing. If you wanted to make them more accurate you would remove the skids and make shorter fat ones and you would need to add more Antennas and avionics. The sensors on the AH-6 toys are wrong. the small FLIR needs to go in the center bottom and it needs to be 1/2 as small. We do not have the large turrets in the front.
