Long requested P-51B, Me-163, P-40E
Long requested P-51B, Me-163, P-40E
Here's a shot at my first poll.
Over the last coupla years it seems that these 3 have been requested by the most folks. The Komet was just mentioned again, a better P-40E to replace/complement the P-40B available, and, of course the P-51B. Of these three, who would buy one or more. All three work for me, but I'll recuse myself.
Still an Aleutian Tiger or Russian P-40, Komet, and early 'stang just seem right.

When you go to post look at the bottom part of the screen, where it asks for poll header, vote options and time to run.

I have a gut feeling we will see a P-51B (probably from 21c) at some point in the not-so-distant future. That would be my choice if there was a poll. There's been alot of demand for one, not to mention that they make the plane in both 1:48 and 1:32 scale. Further, in 1:18, 21c has produced different models of the same aircraft type, most notably the P-47razorback/bubbletop, Bf-109E/G, ME-262A/B, F-104C/G, and the Hueys. Lots of repaint potential for the P-51B/C as well.
I would also like to see a Komet, but think that Pegasus is our best bet. With the direction they are currently heading with some more obscure (but no less famous) aircraft examples, an ME-163 seems likely in the future.
As for the P-40, this is more of a long shot. At this point, 21c seems reluctant to make one in any other scale than 1:48 and they may feel that there is not enough demand to justify a whole new tooling. I know there is a counter-argument to what I just said in that 21c is releasing their old P-40 in the AVG markings, but again, notice its not even a new repaint, let alone a new tooling.
BTW, Chunks, you forgot the FW-190A! That is also a plane I feel we are likely to see in 1:18 before to long

First of all, I'm not citing any accurate intel on my part regarding the actual liklihood of 21c making a P-51B in 1:18. As far as we know, they are not making one.
Now, back to the speculation. A P-51B would have far less tooling costs and perhaps better sales potential than huge and expensive jets. At the current way things are priced, a P-51B would probably sell for $40-$50 at mass retail and $60-$70 with the small retailers as it is a "standard" sized plane. An F-4 and perhaps even a Mig-21 would be over $100, and probably closer to the $120-$150 mark. Those planes are also quite large and in these strained economic times, few people would be willing to lay down that kind of money for something so big. Remember, the bulk of 21c's sales come from average consumers, not us. Thus, if a P-51B was in the works already, it could take the forefront where the bigger projects stalled

Oops, Tman, your right. I missed the FW-190A.
MOAB, I didn't considerer the ones already announced and if they're be released. I was just thinking of ones that seem to have broad support over time that haven't been addressed yet by any of the manufacturers.

I certainly would love to see a P-51B, and I feel it would be a 'safe' bet as far as sales go. Plus, its got tons of repaint potential. I think the FW-190A also fits into this category. One other plane that I feel should also fit into this category is the F4U-4 (4 bladed prop) Corsair, although there would be less repaints for this plane.

Engineering wise, the P-51B is a little more involved than one might think.
The wings aren't the same. The B had four .50's, not six, and they weren't aligned along the leading edge like the D's.
Obviously, the fuselage is completely different.
About the only things usable are the prop, aeilerons, flaps, rudder, landing gear, some (not all) of the cockpit interior detail and horizontal stabilizer pieces.
Everything else is new tooling.
