is it worth the effort?
when I was going over this tank photographing it last night, i was putting (or balancing the side runner tarps or whatever you call them.) on the sides and looked at how idiotic the plastic ropes look next o the detailed tank, so I am going to remove those a replace them with scale string that is weathered to match. does that sound cool or does it alter the intent of FOV model too much for a collector. I mean it is one thing to add stuff, like the red flag , but to replace or remove parts or engaged parts?
I myself would do it for those in my own collection, but what about the other collector buying it from me?
what do you think?

Gorgeous work and the 'diorama' looks terrific but it is already in the 'trading' section? I thought that you began this thread saying that you were thinking about doing some aircraft but had to wait out the eight month probationary period- as if that were a burden still upon you. Now here you are 'all grown up' so to speak. Five days later.
I'm a bit lazy so I haven't gone back to page one of this thread. Was it some one else who had that 'plaint? I am a tad confused.

no,
what happened was i signed up for this forum months ago, but i never could figure out how to activate my account. So while I thought I wasn't a member the clock was actually running on my probationary period or 6 (not 8, my facts were wrong) after I posted about that and having to wait I was notified that actually my 6 months were up. I only recently in the last month or so figured out how to get my account validated to post, by hitting the big obvious button at the top of the forums, but I was being told I needed an email from admin to post or start. So I was confused and already a member that could have been posting all Fall and winter, but you can see that my first posts was very recent. because I like the DS that I am sometimes, didn't see the obvious button.
My RL work entails painting 4x4 foot oil portraits of performers at live music venues. I started at a local small club in 98 and it grew from there. Now I paint for Sprint Center in KC, Nokia Theater in DFW, Palladium Ballroom in Dallas and occasionally I do work for my original Client the Curtain Club in Dallas since their walls are pretty much full. Add to that my new hobby of diorama building and tank re-painting along with ay portrait commissions and re-paint of damaged or lost portraits....it gets very hectic over here.
So I do have constant obligations since every show that comes through those venues gets a painting. excepting only a few. So I can be busy painting up to 20 paintings a month. Doing that for 10 years now, you learn to paint fast and often. I usually (ok always) have several things on my plate. But as I said I work extremely fast or I would be crushed by the weight of it all. I did say I was going to d a plane re-paint, but I also had that Grant sitting there and needing to be finished, I also have a half painted Stug from FOV. I sat down to start on the plane last night and decided I really needed to get this guy's diorama finished before I did anything else, so I worked on it until I felt it was close to done and my eyes started to shut.
One reason I put it off is because of the request I photograph my steps, which would mean loading the images into my pc, Photoshopping them, adding text to the images and then loading them into photobucket and them posting them. All of that and for no pay makes paying (or possible paying) projects take priority at the last second. Setting down and painting a small plane vs. doing the extra step work along with painting the plane are 2 very different time frames. But I will do that. Probably tonight as I work on a recent artwork commission.
but basically I was a forum member and didn't know it since august. It wasn't until this week that someone told me my waiting period was over and all this occurred to me. There were not any favors or anything like that. If I had a brain I would have looked at my "member since" info

I understand the confusion. I've been a member for years and am still confused by the administrative gobbledy gook.

Cabe, would you be willing to re-size that avatar? It makes things a little hard to read...
