The bidders have their identaties hidden. There were 3 . 1***1, C***S and C***L. C***S has 12 wins on e-bay ALL OF THEM ARE TO THE JAGDPOOHPOOH SELLER !! The other ones have won from him as well. These guys seem to be e-bay newbees . Out bidding each other back and forth. This drives the price up. I have noticed that they have not jumped back on the relist. HMMMMM

Jagdpoohpooh says it all! :P

I think e-bay is hiding the bidder listing now to help protect against "fraudulent second offers."

while the claim by ebay is that it's to protect buyer privacy (which doens't make a whole lot of sense) the real reason is to prevent sellers from contacting bidders and offering them items for less.

Ebay is scared these days, as profits stagnate and new members become a rarity, so they are trying to plug all the cracks in their site.

That's why the big fee hike is mystifying. How they could think people would just shrug their shoulders and put up with it is beyond me.

I am a VERY intertial person. It takes something pretty major to get me off my butt and make changes but i am actively looking for alternatives to ebay now, not just because of the fee hike but because of the sleezy way it was presented to us as a 'drop in fees'. It's a short term cash grab by ebay to get profits up for a little while and hence stock prices, so the major shareholders can dump their stock at that point and run away with a profit before the inevitable.

Here's an idea for you...

Let members place silent auctions right here in this section. An item can be listed with full description and photos (hosted by one of the many sites available). Members can bid by placing a post under the item. At the end of a week, 10 days, or whatever, high bidder wins. Lister has the option of stating a minimum bid. Everything is above board, transparent, and (hopefully) free. You already have a section for exposing cheats.

Gary might have a idea if you can get all the bugs worked out, I have tons of stuff in different scales i would love to get rid of, other than using e-bay.

This could be a cool idea. But if someone really likes something and gets excited biddining the price goes up and said person can not afford the item. Then does not pay . The seller gets mad slams him on the good trader post. Lines would be drawn in the sand.War breaks out , blood would be spilled. Mothers ,wives and children would be crying. Sometimes Xd can be dangerous.
I have seen this in the past. No not really.

Me too.
Why don't we prod each other to make a list and post it?

I'll go first: BBI 1/18 A-10 for sale.

Just kidding! I like the idea. I hate e-bay even though I just purchase. It seems to me I am always getting gouged by shipping and I have lost too many listings to suspicious last minute bidding to trust the system.

As for the danger of XD, I think this forum is more a symptom of the disease rather than a carrier.

The Jagdpoohpooh has been relisted and there is less than 2 days left before it goes off. There is a single bid of only $50 so far. When it was up for bid last time it was up to about $200 this far into the auction. I guess the seller told his buddies to back off of the bidding. Unless there is going to be a bidding war in the last 2 mins.
