GD, you are right about the 1/48 fears. My concern is that this is the scale we are going to see multi-engine releases in. This makes me wonder if I need to buy the single engine stuff so if a bomber is released a few years from now I don't have to play catch up on everything I passed on.
:?

I think this is an evil marketing tactic by Roy and Co. to play on my fears like this. :P

My goal was to bring all of us together and see if we can all help. I did not mean for this to get so controversial. I agree that there are many here that fear 21st will abandon 1/18th I don’t know if that is true or not.
But GooglyDoogly you do bring up good points. But my goal is to let WM know that we care about 1/18 XD rather it be modern, WWII, aircraft, or armored vehicles. What I would like to be able to get at WM is the flak 88, king tiger, new repainted panther, the F-4, Mig-21, B-25, me-110 and the mosquito. the last two I know many here want to get made in 1/18 and for you guys that like them in the 1/32 scale. I hope they make them for you as well.

The advise I got from one of the WM assistant managers was to contact WM tmy-self. He told me that, in the past WM has done some real crazy things, from discontinuing items that have done poorly in sales and due to demand from ticked of customers, where brought back in the system. WM even discontinued items that did very well in sales, and decide not to bring them back, and then 6 months latter brought them back.

If you care about 21st 1/18 XD line and want to see the larger aircraft made, make your voice known to Wal-Mart.
If you do talk to them please Be polite.

I don't think its entirely Wal Mart that determines whether or not planes get made by 21c. Certainly they are a very important factor, but one along with TRU and the smaller retailers, as well as the desires of consumers and lastly collectors. We would probably be better off bugging 21c to make whatever it is we want. They have, as of late, been somewhat responsive to our demands

tmanthegreat you are right 21st does listen to the fans. Also large box retailers does have enough influence to dictate what they are willing to sell in their stores and that can also dictate what the manufactures produce. I think this is why we have not seen more larger aircraft at this point.

Btw I wish peace and good will to all of those out there. 8)

Yes...you laugh now....but wait till 21st abandons the 1/32 for the 1/48th scale!!!!

I know deep down inside...you fear that. :P :P :P
When this happens it is time to change hobbies.

My hobbies to date:
1. R/C airplanes 1990
2. German WWII Daggers 1993
3. WWII German Steel helmets 1995
4. 19th century stereoscopes 1995-1996
5. WW I Pickehaubes 1996
6. 1/6 and 1/18 scale stuff 2003
7. 2008 ???????

I will be honest I do have some 1/32 stuff. The items are cool but the scale aint. If this hobby does wittel down to 1/48 it will be time to change AGAIN !!!!!

Likewise. :D Although for a moment there, I thought it was Christmas.

To be honest, I really can't fault 21st for not producing these big planes. Not when they make far more profit in smaller scale stuff. As a business entity, their bottom line is to make money, and the cost of producing such big (and complicated) planes is probably not a savvy business idea for them.

I just wish they wouldn't rain on someone else's parade when someone DOES want to produce one of these planes. :?

Sadly, I seriously doubt we'll ever see these planes in Walmart. Online stores are the way to go. Take a look at Target.com. We see stuff there that we have never seen in the brick and mortar stores, like the F-16 and F-18.

Sad, but a trend we are seeing, Wally world bailing on 1/18th for 1/32, 1/48 and smaller :( I've seen some planes in 1/18th, but few and far between and now, none. I've NEVER seen any armour in 1/18th since I started this hobby over a year ago at WM. Sorry guys and gals, I don't really care for planes. I got about 20 something of them now, but none on display - too much space needed. I DO however do the armour and troops and some can tell that I have tons of it. So, the question will be, "Where do I find a dozen KTs and a half dozen 88s before they all sellout ???" "oh and new Panthers too" :?: If Wally world won't carry them, then I have to fight the Evil bay idoits at Brats R Us to get some :  I checked BC to see if I can pre-order, but nothing there yet  I gotta have my armour  And I won't stop until I get it. WM might be good to get some troops, but hardly anything new is out. I just wonder where to go next :?: Da General
