Fw-190 A short nose custom kit.
Hey Guys ,
I have been talking to the guy who does the cutoms in 1/18 on e-bay. He is the guy who made the record selling P-51 B on e-bay. He is also the guy who made the Coast Garde helos. He has a whole Fw-190A on sale and the front cowling on another auction. The cowling started off at $81 and maybe more by now. Anyway ,I e-mailed him and told him that some of us may be interested. He said that if enough guys ARE interested he may offer them to us at a RUDUCED rate. If the interest is there. I have not seen them in person but they look good in the photos. So if any of you are interested say so and he could help us out with the price.

Re: Spinner
I don't know about the spinner. It looks like he is just offering the cowling. I can't tell by the photo. What I can see in it the prop is the big padel prop it should be cut down for the A model. I guess that I could e-mail him back. The bid starteed at $81. So far there looks like three guys interested . Anybody else? The more people he said that he will go down on the price.thehun wrote:Hey pickel,

Re: Spinner
The "A" model Fw-190 has a much smaller spinner than the "D" series, you'll also have to cut out the fuselage extension to make a correct conversion..thehun wrote:Hey pickel,

Re: Spinner
You are correct the spinner is alot smaller. I don't think the cowling kit sells the spinner. I am not sure what you are talking about the fuse extender haveing to be cut. But the nose of the model has to be cut off to accept the new nose. The spinner needs to be redone as well as the prop.hworth18 wrote:The "A" model Fw-190 has a much smaller spinner than the "D" series, you'll also have to cut out the fuselage extension to make a correct conversion..thehun wrote:Hey pickel,

The guy is offering the reworked cowling only. Other modifications on the model have got to be done by the buyer.
I have e-mailed the guy and he has yet to repond. Again guys if there is a desire speak up so as to help us all out.

Yes ..Yes .. Yes....also the rudder is also too big. If you guys want I can tell you EVERYTHING that needs to be done to change the D to an A. This guy is selling the cowling ONLY. So I guess there are only 4 of us who are interested. I will e-mail him and tell him. I hope this lowers the price.chunks wrote:I think the fusalouge plug, just in front of the stabs, also needs to be removed. IIRC, it was added due to the length/weight of the new engine.
Sorry, I wasn't intending to put the sellers efforts down, only adding to what else should be considered. I think the new nose looks fine and will make the conversion much easier.pickelhaube wrote:Yes ..Yes .. Yes....also the rudder is also too big. the fuselage would have to be shortened or the plane would look quite odd with the A cowl. I doubt if it would be overly hard to shorten the fuselage but it's a lot of work and expense to convert the D to an A.
I fully expect to see a FW 190A in the next year or so....given the popularity of the 1/32 version and the fact the D model hasn't been around for a long time now.

There are some conveneant panel lines on the rear of the fuse. It is actualy the extention that they used for the D. Simply cut them on the lines and remove. It is about 3/4 . The rudder needs to be thined . There is a flat spot on top of it that you can see. The fudder fin needs to be cut off and cut down about 3/16 to 1/4 inch. Of course the cowling has got to be redone. The spinner is alot smaller . I remade mine with a wooden dowl. I forgotten the diameter. The final major thing is the prop it needs to be thined down from the larger padel blade to the smaller one. This is easily done with a dremel.aferguson wrote:the fuselage would have to be shortened or the plane would look quite odd with the A cowl. But I was NOT trying to talk about the custom work on the Fw-19A. There is another post for this. I WAS JUST TRYING TO TELL YOU GUYS THAT THE COWLING IS FOR SALE BY THE GUY WHO MAKES IT. I THOUGHT THAT YOU GUYS WOULD BE INTERESTED IN IT. NOT GET INTO A DEBATE ABOUT THE WORK THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO DO A FULL CUSTOM .
I have e-mailed the guy . His name is Jack and have told him that maybe 4 of us could be interested in his cowling. I have already done this custom and did not make a copy of it. I would like to see what he has done and I have ordered one for myself. The one I am getting has a few flaws . Pin holes and what not and I told him that was not a big deal. He is selling this to me for $40 plus $15 shipping. When I get it I will tell you guys how it looks.
