POST TOY SHOW DISCUSSION AND FINDS HERE
The AREA-21 site is being updated as we speak. New articles should go up in the next couple minutes featuring the photography of our own forum member, Digger! A huge thanks to him for taking the time to go to the show shoot images and then spend all night uploading them to me!
Enjoy the pics, and I do want to point out that Toy Fair is a working show for retial buyers so much of what you will see is built, or is soon to release and already announced through AREA-21. By no means does it mean that there are no more new things to come. So for now enjoy the coverage of what is being shown and know that there are more new exciting things is all scales that we will be hearing about in the months to come!
enjoy the pics! ...Check out those new 1:18 figs with posed legs by the way! Especially the guy with the tri-pod firing the gun! Those are NEW legs!!!! Sweet!

TKO said new stuff is always popping up, also since 21st had to scramble to get the P-40 for TRU out, maybe that is why we did not get to see anything new in 1/18th aircraft at the Toy fair?Teamski wrote:Thanks for the update Digger! If you're not overly picky, this Toy Fare seemed pretty good for 1/18 in general - even if not necessarily for 1/18 military toys. Hasbro is pumping out a ton of GI Joe junk and Star Wars (as usual). For new/continuing 3-3/4" figure lines, you have wrestling figures, DC Heroes, Heroes (the TV show), and Indiana Jones. At least for customizers, they're alot more fodder (hopefully) coming to the toy shelves this year (especially the Heroes figs - yeah, civilians!).

After taking a look at Digger's photos on Area21 (many thanks Digger!) I am very impressed with the 32x Spitfire, not to mention the XD King Tiger and 88mm gun. Its a shame the KT doesn't have an interior - but we all expected that, didn't we? The fact that it may be diecast metal will certainly be an awesome feature, however! I also like the sound of the Flying Tigers P-40 re-release. I recall seeing one back in the day at Wal Mart and they later showed up at Hobbytown, but I forewent the scheme. Should I get lucky and find one at TRU, however, I'm down for it

I don’t know what his orders where, but he did this for the fans of 21st century toys, by request of TKO.Timbo wrote:I didn't realize Digger was under orders not to walk over to their booth...

They're making them in both scales.aferguson wrote:the Heroes figures are 7 inch, not 4.
Mezco's doing the same thing with Hellboy 2.
While real military 1:18th may have had a poor Toy Fair, it's an amazing year for the scale in other properties.
As a fan of the scale in general I couldn't be happier.

Forgot about Hellboy. It was really, really surprising to see so many lines coming out in smaller sizes. Now if McFarlane would just get his head out of his......
EDIT: Did anyone ever see what scale the Action Man figures are? I figure they are 12in, but never seen any of the web sites specifically say.

I went over and hung out with the AT guys and had a few laughs. They are really down to earth and as I told them, maybe too much the perfectionists. I think in some ways they want better product for us then we want for ourselves.Timbo wrote:I didn't realize Digger was under orders not to walk over to their booth...
As for the recon, there wasn't really any. They had the paint master of their new 262 and already released birds, but no protos or anything new. This should not be a surprise - it is what Jason said a while back.
I believe today they might have had some of their 1/72 protos on display which I have seen before and are awesome. I was not at the show today so I have no pics of those pieces.
I visited Unimax too - no 1:18 on display except for the Ages of Action which look great.
No bbi, no Dragon, weak McFarlane and Hasbro I think had a special underground lair b/c I didn't see them.
1/32
Sure is.dragon53 wrote:A question about Digger's third photo on the top row showing various WW II aircraft:
Is the Sherman tank visible under the F6F Hellcat (#17) a 1/32 Sherman?

DIGGER:
Thanks. Two more questions:
1. Is the Sherman a US 76mm or a British Firefly?
2. Is the "17" Hellcat a 1/32 or a repaint of the already-announced Cat Mouth 1/48? (The 1/48 Cat Mouth Hellcat on 21st Century's website was #2)
