I voted for the Spitfire, my favorite WWII non-German aircraft. Great lines, great camo, great markings, great reputation.

I would love to see anything Soviet, but the Russian stuff gets very little attention by the manufacturers for some reason.Ilyushin Shturmovik

I realize that I'm going against the majority here, but...
How about we lay off of WWII for a bit? There's 65 years of history, which contain some of the greatest advances in any field (in such a brief time frame), that followed WWII, how about we see a bit of that?
Myself, I'm partial to modern era, but Korean, Vietnamese, Cold War Europe, Falklands, any number of Isreali campaigns, Iran vs. Iraq, Afganistan vs. Soviet, Desert Strom, the list goes on and on.
Don't get me wrong, I like WWII also, but it seems that it gets soooo much attention, while so much else gets overlooked. I'm not suggesting we stop with WWII, but maybe slow down a bit and make room for other eras. Especially if we want to keep kids, and hence, large chain stores, interested. Kids don't see the difference between a Tiger and an Abrams right off, both are tanks, and it seems fine for them to battle one another, or work together. But planes? Any kid can tell the difference between a jet and a prop, and props are out. They're old. No one flies those any more, they're not on TV, or even in the movies much anymore. And even a kid knows that jets are "better".
Mind you, I'm not talking about your kids, your kids have an enthusiast for a parent and it rubs off. But the average kid, whose parents care little about history and just want to buy junior a toy? Those are a demographic that must be considered if major retailers are going to continue to be involved. Those kids want to see jets, like the ones on TV, or in the movies, like the ones at the airbase in the next town, and lets not forget, like the one daddy flies. Obscue WWII planes will lose out to WWE Wrestling figures, and none of us want to see that! I know I want major retailers involved, partially because I want the pieces out there so that kids have a chance to get interested in history as more than a class in school, but also because I like buying tanks for $25 more than I like buying them at $50.
Those are some of my toughts on the industry overall, and why I voted other.
But I'd still really like a P-38.

Geoff, if I could vote for more planes I would choose as well the Hurricane as the Mosquito. By only one I felt obligated to vote for the Spit, the most famous plane of the WW II, in my opinion. And most beautiful one. I like the French planes, too. Of course, the D-520 was the best French fighter, but I would like to see the Morane-Saulnier MS-406, the Bloch MB-152 and the French planes flown in the French campaign almost only by Polish pilots: Caudron C-714 "Cyclone" and the Koolhoven FK-58 (one of the worst fighters in the war).blurx7 wrote:This is interesting. 20 votes and so far nobody has voted for the French plane, which isn't surprising. What is surprising is we have not one vote for the Hellcat, or the Hurricane. And no one has voted for the Mosquito!?! What's up with that? I thought the Mosquito was a popular plane. Wow!![]()

I will clamor for a Hellcat only after we get a BBI Dauntless release. The 1/18 Hellcat just came out and that is good enough for me.
I didn't vote for the Mosquito because I doubt we will see one until a Lightning is made. Similar to marijuanna, the P-38 is what I would call the "gateway" aircraft leading to deeper twin engine addiction.

RUGER, you do have a good point. 21st should maybe expand their plane subject area to include modern fighter jets. Maybe an A-10 Warthog or something like that. I'd also like to see a 1:32 helicopter (Huey, blackhawk)

Hear hear! I am dying for a T-34C from 21C and have been praying to the scale Gods every night. I have even started sacrificing some of the 1/144 armor I got on clearance!schizuki wrote:IL-2. The Sovs can't keep holding the fascists at bay with just one T-34.
