FOV 32nd scale Sherman

I picked up a camo 32nd scale FOV Sherman tonight at TRU. I didn't realize what a nice model it is. I also picked up a 21st Century Sherman Firefly tonight also. Those two tanks look great together.

I actually like the FOV Sherman a little better than the 21c version. Don't get me wrong as both are great, just the FOV version is diecast, has great detail (with seperately attached accessories) and has about the same number of moving parts. One aspect I do like about the 21c Sherman is that you can place crew figures sitting in the forward hatches

The FOV Shermans are nice, after they lost that S1 dayglo green paint! Those were the worst and it seems you can pick them up loose for less than it costs to ship them.

Is this the FOV Sherman you found, Saberfan? Its been popping up recently. The paintscheme is nice and while its an action grade vehicle, the tank really does not look too bad. I've added the improved antenna and the stowage accessories. Also, my apologies, but I couldn't help including my 21c Cold Steel Panther (S1) in the picture as well. I recently dug it out of storage and find it to be an awesome looking tank as well. Finding the 21c Panther kept me from spending $50 for the FOV version

Yes, that is the FOV Sherman I found. I too added a wire antenna I made out of a very thin electric guitar string. I think it is a great looking tank.

This is a great model but it isn't new. It's been hitting TRU and Target in my area for over a year.
I think I have two squirreled away somewhere.

Yes, I still prefer the FOV Sherman because it looks like a steel tank instead of a plastic one. Why it took FOV so long to get the OD color right on it I just don't understand, especially since their Pershing was perfect.

That's because 21C scr%*ed the pooch on the frontal plate and driver's positions to allow figures to fit. The driver's hoods (the part sticking out from the front armor and the hatches are way too big! That throws off all the proportions on the front of the tank.

I've also noticed that 21C seems to have left off the air cleaners (on the lower rear plate) on most recent releases - getting cheap in their old age I guess.

The 21C Sherman hull is WAY overdue for an upgrade or makeover.

I can only speak for myself but I have 1/32 Shermans coming out my Ying Yang. I would much rather see some TD, soft skinned vehicles or other Allied armor before they re-release a Sherman.

I agree.

Since 21st went all unusual with their new series how about making my Churchill, FOV??? They already make one in 1:72 which I have but we need one in 1:32! Next to the Sherman I think the Churchill had more variations than any other allied tank. Tons of possibilities here. How about an engineer vehicle?

An AVRE would be very cool, as would a Crocodile with the trailer. I was all excited because I found some 1/32 Crocodiles on-line molded in crappy plastic like the BMC Amtrack. I couldn't wait to get a few to paint up but when comparison shopping I found that they were some off-scale like 1/43.

As much as I was tempted this thing would just sit there in limbo, kind of like Goldilocks. This scale is too big, this scale is too small...

MMM a Crocodile, yeah! To bad those cheap-o Crocs sucked.

I have never understood why 21st or FOV has not produced a 1:32 Universal (AKA Bren Gun) Carrier...?? They were made in the tens of thousands, were supplied to most (if not all) the commonwealth armies, and were even sent to the Soviets under lend lease, it's a very cool looking little "semi tank-like" vehicle that should be fairly easy to model, (not much more difficult than say a Panzer 38t for example) and offers numerous possibilities for variants and/or repaints, seems like a no-brainer to me, and I'm curious why none of our manufacturers has attempted it...

With the obvious popularity of the three newest 32X armor releases based on the smallish Pz. 38 chassis, I would think the Bren Gun Carrier would be a great seller...what do you guys think..??

The Universal Carrier would be cool but it would be so small. It would make the Hetzer look large.

The only thing I can think is maybe FOV could fit one in their line up with the jeep and kubel. Now that I think about it isn't it strange that 21C never attempted any small size vehicles? I guess the Sdkf 222 and now the 38t chassis stuff is undersized but no jeeps or anything of the sort. Hmmm.

Maybe the 38t chassis stuff is a sign of the times. Slightly less material and packaging to keep the price point low? That may be a good thing for us if it will bring greyhounds, bren carriers, more German armored cars, etc.
