They had a new, 7 inch Indiana Figure at the Disney parks before Christmas which looked REALLY nice. We're going in February to Disneyland, and I'm hoping they have them when we're there.

And I wish, years ago, I would have bought the vehicles. All I bought were a couple of the Indy figures. Oh well.

Hopefully they'll bring out a bunch of German figs that we can add to our ever growing ranks. 8)

i'd be willing to bet the truck is just a reissue of the old indy truck that hasbro released way back when. Probably be cleaned up a bit but Hasbro has shown with their star wars line that they like to use old molds.
The problem there is, do they have the mold or not... That is the real question. Hasbro enjoys using old molds when available, but not everything was handy for them... And some ships, like the first X-Wing and TIE Fighter in the modern line, weren't actually re-used molds, but rather retoolings of original toys... New molds, just not new sculpts.

A big reason the Cloud Car hasn't come out in the modern line is because the mold is gone for it... It's a top-notch toy, even today, with pretty fine sculpt detailing... But the dull factor combined with the lack of a mold means Hasbro isn't willing to put the moolah into a new tooling for it. :(

The Indy line's one that, supposedly, lots of molds were destroyed for because the line was short-lived and the property seemingly "dead". That's a rumor though, no physical proof to it I'm aware of, just something I've heard through the grapevine... Living somewhat close to Cincinatti, you sometimes hear some things from people who were in-the-know back then when you maybe meet them.

It makes me wonder if the truck's available at this point... It wasn't a bad sculpt, but had some bad detailing to it. I wouldn't have even said it was all that out of scale, just toyish. I'd hope for something new personally, but that's me...

The motorcycle I'm more excited about because I have a feeling it's going to either have a sidecar, or it's going to have one down the road sometime. It's something they can re-use as well, as the monkeyman rides one, the Germans ride them with and without sides, and Indy and his old man have one with a sidecar... They're in grey and desert tan in the movie, so there's hope for those I think being done fairly well.

I'm hopeful for a staff car as well... Pretty good things to go with the truck, and would make something nice/new for the Raiders line. I think a lot of the pricey items (anything above a basic figure) though will focus on the new film before Raiders or the other films. Raiders has the biggest following right now though, so that and the new flick will get more love initiailly I'm sure.

When I was a kid I had the truck and it was extremely under scale when I used my Joes with it. If we have a re-release I think we will all be displeased with it. It would be more on the line of a Chap Mei 155MM in scale and quality. Just my own 2 cents.

the Mark VII had a turret on it......as i said they made an exact copy of it. Why it was chosen i have no idea. I guess they just thought it looked both bizarre and cool.

The quotes I've read from the designer said he wanted a more modern turret. Supposidely this is shown on the DVD, but I haven't watched that disc. When I've looked for pictures on the MK VII, it has no turret. Then again, this is the same photo all over the web.

Looking at pictures of the prop, I don't see Hasbro make a "scale" one. Seems bigger than what they'd do.

Looking around the web, I came across a couple images from the movie. I'm assuming the first picture is Cate Blanchet (sp?). Is her uniform based on anything real?

None allowed... US Toy Fair may yield better results. We'll have people there, and IJ is a line we're covering so keep eyes peeled. This news came out of UK Toy Fair.

No, this news is out of UK Toy Fair... Nobody but those at it have seen this stuff and no pictures were allowed. The German figure has been pictured, so one can assume the 2-pack is either head variations of the same figure, or something incredibly similar to the figure that's been seen...

No visuals on the vehicles yet, but I can't wait. I'm wagering they'll be pretty decent, and at least close enough to realistic that they're acceptable.

The vehicle's called a Kubel, however I'm wagering that, since this is all Raiders stuff we're talking about, that it's a German "Staff Car" as I call them, but they're basically different model German vehicles... I just got a book the other day that gave this thing's model number, but the Germans chasing Indy in Raiders are in motorcycles w/sidecars and small trucks/large car-type things. Here's a model prop of one:

Image

There IS a Kubel in The Last Crusade, I believe, however that film's not being covered yet for the toy line...

Now, that's not to say that the vehicle we get wont' be a Kubel, or that the German bike won't have a sidecar, etc... Hasbro will likely look to re-release these vehicles, if possible, at some point, and TLC has its own desert chase with similar vehicles... to some extent.

I'm guessing though, that the prop above will be the toy we get. There's also perhaps a larger more luxury-type car that the main German villains rode in, however it may just be a variation on the above prop vehicle as well... Been a while since I watched Raiders, honestly.

EDIT: Ah yes, there is also a German Staff Car in Raiders that Belloq Toht, and the General are riding in...

Image

But I honestly believe we're getting the German military truck/vehicle and not this slick car.

I sometimes have to wonder how 21c is taking the fact that its largest rival toy company is now making German soldiers and vehicles

That looks like a German Horch KFZ 15 with the doors and spare tire removed. Hopefully they don't hit it with the shrink ray gun too badly because it would be an awesome release for us WWII folks.

I was thinking it was the samller version, sans spare tire in the center... I had a book with a nice pic of one in it but can't find it at the moment, but it really could be either as that's simply a model sent off a cliff... The true vehicle though would be incredibly close I'd think. Lucas/Speilberg liked to try hard, even with recreations, so I'd think the car will be quite nice.

FOr scale, I'm wagering these will be $20... Hasbro works to make the item fit the price, not vice versa, so really scale could vary. The truck's less likely than the All Terrain Car is... However, neither would be really too large for the pricepoint compared to other things Hasbro puts out in that range for other lines...

What I think they'll look at the most is repainting things. Hasbro's big into stretching a mold's tooling if possible. You may see items re-used in "battlepack" form, or such things as that. The truck has less of that, but Hasbro spreads the wealth across a line, so for instance the numerous Jedi Fighter repaints help pay for, say, a new Cloud Car tooling... Or whatever. One item can sell many repainted, and thus make up some ground on an item that's more risky in investment as far as mold toolings go.

I'm sure 21st has the same business concepts in place where a Spitfire can get umpteen repaints, or an ME-109 can, but the more obscure and thus an increase in "risk on return"... Tanks would be the same way I assume, as would support vehicles which have less repaintability to them compared to a Sherman, or Panther...

With the Indy stuff, the truck I think has the lesser use... You could fudge the car in a battlepack I think with some repainted figures, etc., and market it almost as a new product. YOu could do the same with a German bike, marketing it in grey with Indy & Henry Jones, as well as even repainting it for the monkey man figure, or putting a couple kit-bashed Germans on two of them in a battlepack format... Same product you bought for $10 is now appealing (sorta) for $20 with some extra figures or something.

The truck... I dunno, seems less re-useable save for maybe a trooper version from Last Crusade.

I'm anxious though, and we should see something of these come next weekend, unless they hold Indy stuff from media photography, and it's only really something youc an take a gander at. That was the format with Transformers last year, so I wouldn't be shocked if it happens with Indy this year, but we'll see.

Figures.com are showing the Hasbro cargo truck which maybe slightly small, but should still fit in, but the kubel car with a paint job should come up a treat as appears a good size. Not sure about the Dak figure, but may work out too.
