Any M16 quads in North Africa?

I've done a ton of google searches but cannot find any mention of the M16 with the quad 50's being in North Africa. From what I can find, production started in early 1943 but no mention of any making it to Tunisia. If they were there, I want to paint one up as captured and being used by the Germans.

According to one source I read, it was the experience of US armor with German air attack in North Africa that prompted the need to design the M-16...

I have never seen any pictures of one in North Africa but it is possible maybe by 1943. TTT, I know you know the answer to this one.

IIRC M15 AA HTs where there, one 3.7cm AA and 2 MGs on a mount.

just as an aside, tons of the very similar M15 were sent to the USSR and were used from late 43 onwards by the Russians, as one of their principle aa vehicles. I think they received around 1000 of them, if not more....which is more than the germans produced in all of their various aa halftrack types combined.

They were typcially left in their original olive drab (some whitewashed in winter) and often had russian stars added to the door or sides. Sometimes national slogans were painted on them. An easy custom for anyone so inclined and you can find reference pics fairly easily on the net by search for 'M15 Russia'.

Since the M-16 went into production in May 1943 and the Axis forces in Africa either left Africa or surrendered on May 13, 1943, it was not possible for the M-16 to see combat in the Africian campaign.

The M-15A1 half-track was a potent AA weapon with a 37mm gun with two .50cals (one on either side of the 37mm). The M-15A1 was used by Allied forces in Africa. The M-15A1 was a neat looking weapon, especially with two water cooled .50cals.

21C take note. You already have the M-15 & M-16, how about a M-15A1? a little tweeking to an existing model, and we have another great 21C product.....

Thanks TTT, I didn't think they had arrived in North Africa before the surrender but I wasn't sure. I though you would know this one.
