New 1:18 Huey?

I bought one of the new Platoon figs at WM today, and on the back of the card it shows a Huey and a Patton tank as upcoming items. Please enlighten me? I'd kill for a 1:18 Huey, even 1:32...

The Huey have already been out about 3-4 years ago. They are bringing good money on e-bay. I passed on them back then even when they went on sale for $15. The Cobras as well.

The Huey actually first came out about nearly 6 years ago, when the Vietman line first appeared. It's represents the shorter 'C' version of the Huey and was a gunship version. Years later it was reissued in a few diff't paints, one of an aircav huey, which wasn't totally correct, since all the aircav Hueys bearing those markings were the longer 'D' models.

Many of us have longed for a new D Huey but i suspect we will only see reissues and repaints of the original.

I remember stacks of Cobras in the Motorworks box at Walmart. I should have picked up a few then.

Yes, I remember the older Hueys, but I'm wondering if they're doing a repaint or something to go along with the new Nam figs. One that I can get in a store, and afford.

There's nothing like that Huey. I got the Hog-head one and it's by far my favorite chopper. I hope that they do reissue them sometime in the future. I painted the pilots helmet red white and blue to give em some personality. Maybe we'll get new companys making them.

I remember the old hueys because, well, the CIA one was here up till this past November...

So were Cobra's... Poor sellers for sure, and ones that were around here in abundance it seemed.

Some WM's may still even have either of those around... UGH.

I suspect we'll see the Platoon release of the Huey a little after the Sahara version is released. It must be just around the corner now, since there just a few Sahara figures left on the pegs...

If you can get one, the Huey is certainly worth it. Its one of the better 1:18 helicopters and includes a fully detailed interior. Similar to the BBI Blackhawk, but far more detailed.

My younger brother got the original "Hogshead" Huey at TRU back in 2001 (the only XD he ever bought). At the time I wasn't too interested in it, prefering to get the original M-48 tank. He displayed the helicopter for a year, and it then spent about 3 years in storage. I bought it off of him for $20 in 2004, box and all. I didn't tell him that at the time it could bring in some $$ on ebay. Now its a treasured part of my collection

Warm memories of the Hogshead....

Remember finding them right when they came out, and carrying three of them out of the store. Especially nice since they were only $30 then.

Back to the topic, I wish the M48 would reappear in one of these lines. Although not "right", I really dug the look of the Sahara version.

In regards to the Sahara figures, I purchased some from smalljoes and thought they fit in well with the modern stuff as Iraqi/Afghani civilians. I know they come with no weapons and aren't really articulate, but I am glad they were released. I get the feeling I may be the only one here who enjoys them though...

Not entirely

I like them too, and use them in the exact same setup as Middle Eastern figures. I also bought two more to keep carded. While the figures never sold well they could be worth something carded waay down the line. Afterall, they are figures made for a now very obscure film...

I picked up quite a few of them way backwhen they were $1.98 at WM - this was right before they went on clearance for $4.99 a whole penny more than the marines and OMG figures out at the time....
I used the blonde guys head for a BOB german closed coat - and although you got to squeeze the helmet on - he dosnt look that bad...

I bought an Air Cav version of the Huey fom the local Wally in the past month or so. It was a leftover. Quite dust coated. But completely intact. It came in a Motorworks box.
I get the impression from what I read here that the gunship version is the more highly regarded and ?? accurate too. Still I am glad to have the one I was able to get. The price wasn't bad either. I paid $25.00 for it.
Oh, and I have the "Al" Sahara figure. It was all alone on a peg- again in the local Wally- some time back. Too it home. Looked it over and realized it is indeed a very good fiure. The extra head will come in handy on another figure when I find some time to do a transplant operation someday.
