M-41 track/drive configuration. Building M24 Caffee tanks

Post by General Blasto » Wed Jan 23, 2008 9:45 pm

I was looking over pictures of the M24 Caffee tank tonight because I want to convert over some M41s with BBI Sherman parts and I noted that the large sprocketed drive wheel on the 21st C M41 tank is in the back by the engine, where on the M24 and the Sherman it's on the front. Is this correct ??? I'm wondering if I can flip the upper part of the shell around instead of changing the wheels or maybe just change out the wheels. I also noted that the wheel spacing on the lower drive wheels is a bit wider on the M41 than on the M24. Is it worth the trouble to change this ??? The turret and main cannon mounting will be the easier of the tasks to do. Any ideas, questions or comments :?: When I start the project, I will start a new thread under the customs section. I also hope to build these in a production line style with 3-5 tanks. Da General

I was afraid of that
Well, I can make something that's close ;) Will have to at least change out the wheels and might be able to sneek the lower drive wheels together. Perhaps it could be a modified M24, say an M24A or M24X. Anything bigger than the Sherman that's close may have to do for now until someone(ha, ha) deceides to make a later tank in 1 18th  Thanks for the info Grognard 8) Da General
