Jason....to say that I am blown away by the level of detail on the SBD and the pains you guys are taking to make this aircraft as close to perfect as possible is a major understatement. Maybe we should shutup with the critiques so you can stop with the rework and get it built already:) You listen to us maybe too much
Anyway...fantastic job with the SBD. I also have to put in my two cents about MTS with the great service and friendly folks they have, I have never received anything but excellent service from them. They are the BadCats of the midwest
With everything I have just seen and read, I believe I will be breaking out the plastic shortly and placing my pre-order with MTS.
Thanks for all you do,
Dan

Thanks for all you do,
Dan

Thank you Jason for the words of enlightenment. I have learned more about toy production from your photos and explanations in the past year than I ever expected. The SBD is going to be much better because of your efforts. I very excited that the plane is even being produced. Keep up the nice work.

Wow!
This reminds me of the "How its made" show that is seen on the Discovery/Science channel.
There is a triangular formula that we use at my work. It's called Good/Cheap/Fast.
You can only have two out of three.
Example:
If you want it Fast & Cheap then it ain't no Good.
If you want it Fast & Good then it ain't gonna be Cheap.
If you want it Good & Cheap then you ain't gonna get it Fast.
I will give up the Fast for the Good & Cheap.
You do good work Jason.

Thank you,Kleinesoldaten wrote:Thanks Jason, that was the coolest post I've seen yet on this great site.
And thank you all for the posts. Maybe I should do more of this kind of post in the DFTS area. I will do one for the Skyraider and maybe some more from the SBD in the near future.
If the members like to see the progress and learn a bit about the trial and tribulations of making these beasts of a model, I am happy to share.

with your permission to use your coined term....
how did you come up with such a graceful, and smooth flowing term!
i upset that you had the SQUEEZE, GRASPING CLAMPING TYPE ATTACHMENT POINT phrase coined
i was allready going to have that term for a bedroom wrestling game, now you cost me millions.
on a serious note, it looks like rudder pedals are in there a nice touch for something that wont be seen without looking. also i see the cutout for the H.U.D. are one of those the special touch?

That is funny. Sorry that I stole such a common phrase before you could jump on it!GAU-8 wrote:with your permission to use your coined term....

You are almost correct about the HUD. But in those times a HUD was not available. But what they did use was a grid on a map tray that pulled out over the pilots lap and had the angles of attack for the bomb runs. You can see on the bottom photo the light part on the panel that pulls out. This will have the map of angles of attack tampo-printed on the pullout.

Not a big deal but something else to look at and show off once in awhile.

Jason

I do have news, but no time to talk. I am running into a meeting and will not be out until late this afternoon.
I have a lot of work to do before I leave for China on Monday. Going to China is good news for you. Admiral Toys has a LOT of things in the works at this time.
Sorry that I cannot openly discuss the projects. Fortunately, a lot of the projects have to do with 1:18 military.
The SBD is coming along very nicely. As usual I will not state a date of release. That always gets people into trouble.

Jason
