Not sure if this has been posted before or not. This is the website for the Bundesarchive (Peoples Archive) in Germany. Most authors get a good sum of the photos they use from this source. Downside is the website is im Deutch so unless you are fluent you have to flail around about.

Unfortunately my keyboard does not have the gross S key. :(

Yeah, I've been there before, it's a great resource for historians and WWII buffs, but like you say, without at least an elementary understanding of German it's of little use. There is a similar site for the Russian archives, but unfortunately it's even worse because the Russian alphabet is like Greek...literally. :shock:
