 WOW talk about cross-era...

Anybody give you funny looks or ask you about the Panther?

Aren't the reenactors suppose to stay "in character" at these events?
If so, how did you rational the Panther with in 1861 - 1865 period?

This one was, as most, a spectator event, so non authentic people and things were to be expected- I simply carried it a wee bit and deposited into my non-period bmw.

But your probably refering to what was it doing on sale there? Being a spectator event and knowing many there may be of a military mind, it was as good a place as any to sell it as any, kinda similar to seeing XD for sale at airshows.

And the only funny look I got was from my partner, he of far reaching period knowledge and CW round table experience and absolutely not a rats ass care about anything XD....

Believe it or not, I grabbed 2 of them at $25 each on sale at the now-defunct Small Blue Planet about 4 years ago (already???). By far the best paint scheme, hands down.....

[+] XD Panther ( ? )

Post by MG-42 » Fri Jan 04, 2008 11:05 pm

[+] The 1st.series Panther was # 413 , then came series 2 , which was'nt assigned a tactical # on the turret and was camo'd in an "Ambush" type paint scheme. Then series 3 "Winter" w/ same tactical turret # 413 too , but "white-washed" w/ green painted #'s .

* I'm lucky to own a few of these "Ambush" Panthers myself. * 8)

Thanks for the clarification. Looks I have the series one. Which I believe I got at TRU. Never knew about or saw the others.
