I know in a collector's stand point, what this guy is doing sucks balls. But unless he's doing something wrong like bribing the TRU stock boy to hold these items for him and not stock them in the shelves at all, I don't see why you guys are so angry at this guy.
Because he's better at scouting than you?
He's actually promoting the toys we love, and making sure that TRU knows that these items are big sellers, so in all likelyhood, TRU would stock more and more of these products, and any future releases from 21st Century, or BBI, etc.

Everyone here sells on ebay at one time or another. I do too.
But personally, it is the parasitic nature of scalping that disgusts me.
I don't accept that they aid the hobby. They are more likely to artificially stimulate growth, creating a bubble. When it bursts we are worse off than before. I have watched it happen time and again to numerous collector hobbies.
Natural growth in a hobby is sustainable for manufacturers.
And being legal does not make it morally right.
Like I said.... scalpers should get a real job where they actually contribute some value to society rather than just leeching off everyone else. They are a symptom of what is wrong with America.
IMHO. of course.

What I don't get is why people are bidding them so high. You see he has 20 more! Just wait till the next auction, or the one after that!
By the way those tanks look cool. 32x is just so badass these days..

But I bet you that when Walmart managers saw all those shelves filled with FW-190D/Red-nosed BF-109Gs/insert any 1/18 planes that have been sitting at walmart shelves forever, it didn't help their buying/stocking decision.blurx7 wrote: I don't accept that they aid the hobby. There are times that when I just want to buy all the M-17s and Little Bird helos at my local TRU, just so they would stock something different!
But alas, I don't have the money. Then I realize that the TRU manager might stock more helos and quad trailers if he thinks that they sell like hot cakes...*shudder*
Yep, it sucks in the short term. But we have been in this hobby long enough to know that it always go through a cycle like this. A brand-new release get sought after on Ebay and get big bucks there. Average Joe collector can't find any in their areas. Then the demand on ebay peters out, and you begin to see more and more reasonable prices again.
So patience is the key virtue.

And every time we have these same argument/discussions.
You would think we would learn, huh?

I was thinking today (frustrated while finding SQUAT on an all day scouting mission) that I wouldn't mind kicking the guy in the shin that scoops all of these up. The paranoid in me thinks some yahoo scooped up the 50 1/18 FOV Tigers that were sent to my AO leaving me with nothing but dust bunnies and Homies on the shelves. I was so distraught I picked up yet another FOV 1/32 Sherman repaint, and an action series at that (yes boys, it was a sad day indeed).
Before I got myself too worked up, I thought of past releases that show up on e-bay. I smiled when I realized how many Italian fighters there are out there. Don't get me wrong, I purchased my four and did my part, but something tells me the same guy that has all those Marders is probably sitting on an entire Italian airforce. Karma does have a way of eventually levelling the playing field! After that, I felt better.

Although I'm jumping in late here, all I can really say is SHIT
...and I don't apologise for cussing out loud! I'd like to know exactly where in California this guy is from and I'm sure he probably passed through my area. Yes, there are a bunch of TRUs in my state, but they only get a limited stock of these items. From the look of the picture, he could have easily hit 5, 6, or more stores - leaving other collectors in the dark. I know these items were in my area (I found a sole Marder) but it was puzzling that these relatively obscure tanks should have disappeared so quickly, while everything else sat around like it always does. Again, I've got no hard evidence, but seeing someone in my state with such a huge stack of an item that myself and others are not finding just plane sucks
Collectors like this really piss me off, legal or not

That's exactly what I said in an earlier post...he'll likely get stuck with more than a few, the supply seems pretty good right now on ebay, and the demand is going to taper off soon.My guess is the poor slob will end up with truckloads of these things he can't move when the hype dies down.
I can certainly understand your frustration T, especially if he emptied the TRU down the street from you, but he may not be a "collector" at all, he could just be some guy looking to make a fast buck..Collectors like this really piss me off

Distribution
Given the slap-dash inconsistent and a-rational distribution of these items by Wal-Mart/21st Century this guy is only improving on the general nationwide distribution pattern. There are 21st Century releases that have never, ever made it to my area and the only possibility of getting one has been through eBay.
Besides, I thought that TrU had stopped carrying Nazi/German toys.

* Sheesh !
* I just love it when somebody switches out an item they really like and puts something else that closely matches the item in the same box and returns it too. ... Like the 1:18 21st.C "Old Crow" in a ( BBi P-51D ) box for instance. *

I'm glad to hear that TrU is selling a full line of 21stC again. I always considered it pretty c.s. that they caved and stopped doing so. Just goes to show how insincere these self-righteous groups are that set themselves up as moral arbitrators (arbi-traitors?) and pressure people and companies to comply with their "cause au moment."

Lets see, the jadgtigers, FW190 (15), pak 40 hanomogs, individual pk40s, marders and the 38- Obviously TRU does'nt let German/nazi stuff stand in the way of consistent sales, so that obviously means - WHERE HAS THE PRODUCTION RUN OF ME-262s GONE TO? hobby town, BCA, other net retailers have them- do they have all of them? The TRU shelves have silly elite force, etc stuff lined up one next to each other- the shelves are deep enough to consolidate this junk- don't ya think there is enough room for the 262s?

Perhaps, schizuki, but what about the buyer in a part of the country who just knows in his heart that his TrU or Wal-Mart will never get the item, whatever it is? This s and is most likely his only chance of procuring for himself that which is distributed 1/2assedly.
