Catmouth Hellcat review

Post by Fitzystigertank » Tue Dec 25, 2007 5:46 pm

I was wondering for those that are going to be receiving this airplane if we could get a good review of this plane. photos would also be great too.
I know this plane ships on the 27th. This plane is on my wish list. just not to sure if it's worth having 2 Hellcats.

I'd go ahead and get it if I were you, if nothing else than an investment. With limited production on this one it'll likely finance more items down the road should you decide to part with it.

This is a must have if you are a WW2 airplane fan. I really like this scheme, and it makes one cool looking Hellcat.

I just got my shipping conf. Soon Hellkitty!

I gave my uncle a F6F for Xmas and He was obviosly moved by the model.
You would have thought he was 16, he sat and stared at it for the rest of the evening.
He told me "It brought back a flood of memories"

Such a long wait for the F6F, but worth every minute.

I'm holding off on buying the Catmouth F6F because I'm concerned about the Catmouth's possible folding wing/landing gear and broken antenna problems that were mentioned with its predecessor, the Vraciu Hellcat.
I assume the Catmouth is just a repaint of the Vraciu F6F.

Just got my BBI catmouth Hellcat in the mail today. Wow, this plane looks awesome. I have it sitting right next to my other Hellcat, and they look great together. Mine has no flaws, and the catmouth paintscheme is really well done. Nice job BBI. :D

SABREFAN:

Is the only difference between the Cat Mouth and Vraciu Hellcats is the paint scheme?

Also, I hope you post a detailed review and photos of your Cat Mouth soon.

I just got mine today and its perfect in all respects. Military Toys is always a pleasure to deal with. They called me 2 days ago to fix an error with my order and now its here. I must say it went together better than my first Hellcat did and it’s not missing the tail gear this time. The graphic on the nose is perfect with no smears or lines. Cockpit detail is the same as the earlier one…very nicely done!

Actually the catmouth Hellcat was a Christmas gift to me from my brother. He got it on ebay, and had it shipped to me. This plane looks so awesome from the front. :D

You still need to be careful when assembling it but it went together better than my first one. Maybe I just knew what not to do but it seemed to fit better as well. The prop on my first one was sloppy. This one is tight but wont spin freely if you give it a whirl. I imagine over time it will loosen up a bit. I prefer tight to sloppy loose. The paint is perfect with no major blemishes that I could see. The landing gear was a bit difficult to get into the locked position but if you’re real careful it will pop in and lock; you just have to go easy with it. I did notice that my first one had some big time slop in the wings and it looked as if it wanted to fall apart. This one is much tighter. I have not tried the folding yet but it looks like a fairly simple design and should work well. I give this plane a 4.5 out of 5 since there is always room for improvement. Over all it’s a great bird and I recommend it. I really love the detail in the undercarriage and the patina on the wheels. bbi always makes a good bird.
