your favorite BBI jet?

Post by dragon53 » Thu Dec 27, 2007 1:25 pm

In terms of DETAIL and authenticity, what's your favorite BBI jet?

1. F-4 Phantom II
2. F-16 Fighting Falcon
3. F/A-18 Hornet

I'd have to say the F-4 as well. Its got better detail than the F-18 and F-16 combined, and its twice as small

Nevertheless, all the BBI jets are great and some of the most ambitious 1:18 scale planes yet made 8)

I really love my Hornet. It's sheer wow factor wins the day in my opinion.

Go Ugly Early in 1/18!!

Still waiting and wishing for a 1/18 A-10 Warthog.

OLIFANT, BIRDDOG:

Do you also own the F-4J?
If so, why do like your F-16 or F/A-18 over the F-4J?

I'm going to buy the F-4J and had looked at the F-16, too.

Was the Blue Angels F-18, but after they release the Thunderbirds F-16, it will be the new favorite I think.

dragon, I have all three and love them all. I like the Phantom but somehow it doesn't thrill me like the big birds do. I think I will like it much better in 1/18. Perhaps part of the issue is it is kind of a wallflower plane; it doesn't really belong with my WWII 1/32 and has no place in the 1/18 rooms. For now it is sitting all by itself in the family room on top of a book shelf. It really needs a MIG to ask it to dance...

I have always been a 1/32 guy and still consider myself such, but in the lulls between releases I have been catching up on the old 1/18 and must say they have a bigger (physical and psychological) presence than the 1/32 planes. The Hornet just looks big and bad. If it is within your means I would highly recommend purchasing one.

OLIFANT:

If size was not a factor, how would you rate your F-4J vs. the F-16 and F/A-18?

I think the Phantom has better paint and detail; my guess is that I would change my BBI favorite jet if it was 1/18! Please remember this mold is what, five years newer than the Hornet and Falcon?

Being that I only have the 16...then it's my favorite, but I do want an 18 in a bad way.

POPEYE357:

I was looking at the F-16 at Target.com, but they sold out, but I did get a BBI P-51 from Target.com for $34 delivered.
