i've wondered about the possibility of FOV doing a 1/18 enthusiast line of their vehicles but i'm not sure how likely that is. Other than better weathering and maybe adding a figure or two it would be difficult to upgrade the quality of their 1/18 stuff, with so many hatches, the Tow launcher etc being molded in place. If they had intentions of doing an enthusiast line i think they would have started off with 'dumbed down' enthusiast vehicles for the Target line.......but that doesn't look like what these are. Still anything's possible if they perceive there's a market for an enthusiast line.

Right now, by biggest concern is whether or not the FOV 1/18 line sees a next wave of vehicles or if these 4 plus the figures will be it....a sort of one off deal. It will depend on both FOV AND Target; since sales seem to be strong FOV should be happy, so it will mostly depend on the whims of Target....if they get on an anti war kick, which WM is rumoured to be on, or just think that the 1/18 tank thing has shot it's bolt, they may well cancel the line. If that happens i doubt FOV would continue in 1/18 without a major retailer on board as they need to move large quantities for their line to be a success.

It would be nice if we had an FOV rep in the 'direct from the source' forum giving us some feedback.

If there is a second wave of 1/18 FOV i just hope it's not a Panther, LAV, King Tiger, M113

Only time will tell where FOV is going with their 1:18th line, but I'm cautiously optimistic about the prospects for future offerings. A BIG thank you to grunt1 for the awesome series of comparison photo's :) On a related note: the absence of smoke dischargers on the FOV Tiger is not a missing detail strictly speaking, the smoke dischargers were discontinued on the Tiger I in the early summer (June) of 1943, and Zimmerit didn't make it's debut on the Tiger until July and August of the same year, so the inclusion of dischargers is not an accurate feature for a Tiger with Zimmerit anyway.

BTW, for anyone who cares about this kind of stuff, the unit marking (shield with crossed keys) on the right front of the FOV Tiger represents Schwere (heavy) SS-Panzer-Abteilung 101, (Michael Wittmann's unit). A brief history can be found here.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/101st_SS_H ... Detachment

Checked target yesterday and still not showing up. It does look better out of the box.

My take on these vehicles is an experiment by FOV to see what will happen. If the customers and collectors snap them up, likely they will want to continue and possibly start adding detail and expanding the variety of vehicles.

Which is what all of want.

if they sit on the shelf with the current price and quality...then?

I haven't seen the FOV Tiger yet but from the pictures I am hopefull that it will be pretty nice. The commanders coupla looks a little funny but I will wait to I see one in peson. I disagree that the 21st Century Tiger is the best made tank so far. I would gladly give up it's interior for a more accurate exterior. My Dad started to try and fix his and gave up. He had the metal hull version. It may have ben easier with a plastic hull for some of the problems. As for the BBI Sherman, it is a nice product. But they shouldn't have bothered putting an engine in it if they were going to put the wrong engine in it.

I can see both sides of this debate somewhat...

For me, I'll be buying and supporting both. I have Tiger I's already, I'll buy this one though, and maybe the tan one too... I'm not afraid to spend on what I really want, and WW2 armor's definitely there for me.

The lack of detail and weathering is annoying to say the least... It detracts. 21st's tank is superior, and likely will remain so, but I'll still buy the FOV, and hopefully get it to where I appreciate it more...

For me, any armor's good... 21st won't suffer because of FOV I believe, so I'm not concerned. And a $30 Tiger means customizing it can be more affordable... I'll gladly jump on that possibility. And all the while I'll have 21st tnaks I paid more for that are superior looking in most all respects out of the box.

If FOV continues then and makes a Stug or T-34, great... So far, that remains to be seen... Perhaps 21st will beat them to the punch, with something better, but at a higher price? I'll buy it... I'll take a FOV T-34 2 years later though too if it's different enough.

I don't own a green Sherman yet, but I'm anxiously looking forward to FOV's... I think they'll complement my winter white BBI and 21st Shermies quite well. ;) Be nice if they had hedgecutters or a landing exhaust or some such, but maybe that's something to customize for the "cheap' one I buy? I hate customizing the $40 or $50 tank.

i should ask the seller this question: 'is this the same Tiger available at Targets across the country for $30?'.

I wonder if he'd post it in his auction....

Notice almost everything he sells is"rare" he must cruise all the stores and buy up everything so no one else has a chance to get one at normal retail prices.
Could not think of anything to put here.

Which technically does make it rare in his neighborhood, at least. And which means that if there are any collectors like us around, someday he will get jumped in the parking lot :)

It amazes me the people who buy things for grossly inflated prices on E-bay .If they had just done a simple Google search they would most likely find it cheaper else where. The mind set that E-bay is a bargain site is so way in the past.
