****Petition to tell Hasbro not to cancel GI JOE!! ****

Post by ParatrooperCarbine » Tue Mar 15, 2005 9:44 pm

For those GI Joe fans who don't know, Hasbro plans to cancel the GI Joe line. Details here: http://www.mastercollector.com.

No more new stuff, no more retro stuff, no more 3 3/4 inch figures. Good-bye to Snake Eyes. Sayonara to Storm Shadow.

If you are upset about this (as I am), please complete this online petition (loads quickly, very simple to complete-less than a minute of your day to help keep this classic alive):

http://www.petitiononline.com/knight5/petition.html

And you may consider sending Hasbro a letter expressing your opinion.
The customer service sddress is:

Hasbro, Inc.

I for one was raised on G.I. Joe and it will be a loss to see it go. Recently someone posted that they were going to produce realistic military figures instead of the Joe/Cobra figures. Is this true?, because from what you are saying there will be no more 3 3/4 inch anything. This would be tragic. They must not realize (at Hasbro) that the realistic military figure will have a place in the market of toys. I will fill out the petition if anyone can tell me more about their plans for the realistic figure line.

no realistic figure line. That was a rumour that was quickly squashed when it was announceed hasbro's true plans were a new 8 inch anime like gi joe line. :?

I have to be honest and say i'm not pleased to see the GI Joe line go because i know it's going to be a huge help to our hobby which IS realistic figures and vehicles..

That said i feel for all the Joe collectors who have put their hearts and souls into it all these many years. This must be a great disappointment for all.

I was wondering about that very thing - is this good or bad for our hobby. At first I thought good, as there would be Joe money now going to XD, bbi, DT, etc....but then I realized that about half the people who buy our stuff do so to supplement their Joe collection. So...if people aren't collecting Joes they may not be collecting 1:18 at all  .
While some people may turn to realistic 1:18 as an alternative to Joes, I think some Joe collectors will just not be buying 1:18 at all anymore.

It would be sorry to see them go...

One thing I can say for sure is watch how the prices for these fine figures really to start to soar on eBay!

Yeah - that will be nice! I will be potentially able to sell one of my less-than-exciting figures for a little more than normal!

At least I should be getting my Crimson Guard figures from Amazon.com soon. Those will probably be the last Joe figures I get. Oh well...
