A crew for my 1:18 Pak-40 Hanomag?
How many? What kinds? I currently have a frickin rag-tag motley crue set-up for when I get it. A Wehrmacht Otto with his gray helmet on, a BOTB tanker, two Wehrmacht infantrymen w/o their jackets and with their camo helmets. One with a head swap. Then there's a Wehrmact artillery officer guy.
Not gonna work is it?

I wouldn't use otto as it was mostly regular soldiers that manned the hanomag pak, not SS. Since it came out in december '44 and was used til war's end i would think great coat infantry would be ideal or any cold weather infantry you can customize. Failing that just regular wehrmacht troops, either the old S1's or the newer ones that came out would be fine.....march and april of '45 were fairly mild and many pictures of regular troops wearing just their normal uniforms without heavy coats etc.

You might try the Dragon guys. Many of them are in a crouched position and look perfect behind the Pak.

yes but in the pak hanomag the crew stood.....except for the gunner who sat on a little fold down seat (he sat behind the shield on the left side of the gun).
You could actually get away with just 2 crewman...not unusual at all to have just a gunner and loader.

I've been using the "Otto" figures, and accurate or not, I like the way they look. The total crew should be 5: Driver, wireless operator, gunner, loader, commander. This is a particularly good armored vehicle on which to have an interior dio (sort of) with the crew loading and firing the gun

"If you fail to plan, you plan to fail."
using Otto is not inaccurate.....just uncommon. The crew manning the gun would be a maximum of 3 as it was very tight on space in the back compartment with the big gun in there; even with 2 or 3 manning the gun it was tight and there was a real danger of getting nailed by the gun's recoil if one wasn't alert, especially if the gun was traversed in one direction or the other, to the left being especially bad. The other 1-2 crewman would either be sitting up front or more likely, outside the vehicle fetching more ammo.
By the by i used a 2 man crew on my pakwagon.....mostly because i couldn't figure out how to fit a third man in the back. I made custom figures from the german tanker figures with the fall camo pattern on their cold weather uniforms. For one of them i gave them a russian fur hat and the other i grafted on white pants taken from a gi joe big ben or whiteout figure, to create a nice hodge podge look, that is so common for german troops in the final months of the war.
