M113 in Iraq

There are other cool photos at this site (armor and aircraft, I havn't had time to look through them all), but anyone interested in the '113 should really look at this armor-supplement being used in Iraq:

Nice photos! 21c should have put that protection on the commander's hatch of their 1:18 M-113A3 to fit with the times. Also, whats with those makeshift "schurtzen"? Is the plywood filled with sand, or left hollow?

The plywood is filled with sandbags, the sandbags can be seen in the second and third photos. I have pointed them out with red arrows here: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v400/ ... 4c6162.jpg
