V1 Kit @ Badcat
I see now that BC also have the kit listed as "Out Of Stock" so I hope there is a lesson for especially one manufacturers that has an A-10 prototype to take notice of this.
I doubt that the FZG 76 would have consciously been on the top of most people’s wants list (in either kit a pre-made form), however none the less it has still proven to be a red hot item after all, I could image that a certain A-10 may get a comparable response.
Many people that I have talked with, that do not already have the 1/18th collecting bug (disease) have expressed the same sort of enthusiasm for AT’s A-1 even showing more interest in the Skyraider than what is currently out there, the mention of the A-10 prototype enlists a not dissimilar response. So it appears from my experience that the Skyraider and the A-10 have a similar hidden wow factor that the Fi-103 has proven to have.

I thought about ordering from BC on the V-1, but it's too late
Not a problem, for I'd rather have the V-2. I lost out on an Evil bay auction on the V-2, but managed to find one elsewhere. Paid for it, now I'll have to find a place and/or a trailer to put it one, once it arrives and I assemble and paint it

The V-2 and with the Atom bomb, Germany would have captured the world
At least most of that was a ST TOS one liner

It is plenty sturdy. Pictures I could do but it has been a wile since I have posted one. I will try.
This is my Critiuqe.
1. Overall look is good.
2. Seams on the rockrt tube could be a little tighter.
3. I think that the cord thickness on the wings is a little thin.
4. The decals are the one thing that is a draw back. They are very shiney. They could have put a little microlsol or something on them and maybe a little flat paint to take that sheen off.
As another member said we could use a ramp. But maybe a dolly would be more practical. Or maybe some rocket fuel spheres or war head.

A simple google image search may helpGeneral Blasto wrote:Question is how to paint itI remember seeing some pictures years ago of them painted up in a camo scheme. Where can I go to find some pictures of a V-2 painted up in camo ??? Thanks, The General

V2s were painted in a variety of different schemes, many of them cammoflauge. I personally always like the black & white "checker" version.

For all your V-2 needs go to the following site:General Blasto wrote:Secret weapon arrived today, Ha ha![]()
Now I will have to get some time set aside to assemble my V-2. Question is how to paint itI remember seeing some pictures years ago of them painted up in a camo scheme. Where can I go to find some pictures of a V-2 painted up in camo ??? Thanks, The General

G'day All
Got my V1 Kit today, but as I had to leave work un-expectantly early, I accidently forgot to bring it home with me, however I will attempt to do a quick review on what I can remember, I'll correct any mistakes and hopefully have some shots of the it tomorrow.
Detail, well the Fi-103 is not a high detail item to begin with, but what detail there is, is presently restrained with finely engraved panel and hatch lines and all the raised details are crisply moulded, all the individual components are also very crisp with only the slightest amount of flash here and there but this is hardly worth mentioning. I seem to also recall that the fuselage and engine parts have a slightly textured surface, similar to a cast effect while the wings an elevators appeared to be smooth.
The plastic that is used for this model is quite dense and weighty, so much so that one the engine halves and both of the elevators had separated from the spru in transit, but seeing as this model has been half way around the world and then back to get to me it is no surprise that this has happened.
The use of a thick plastic may have been to prevent deformation of the parts and as far as I could see this had been successful. The interior of the fuselage halves is also reinforced by quite a few ribs and there are plenty large sturdy pins to aid a positive alignment of the halves, this is also true for the engine halves and one of the rib sets blanks off the engine tube about 20mm from the exhaust end, this is no biggie as I intend to remove all the ribs and pins right up the grill, but I can now see how the blanking off may be an issue in the pre-built version.
The decal sheet supplied seems quite comprehensive and as noted by those who have the pre-built model are quite glossy, but at the same time very thin.
I only glanced at the instructions as they lay in the bottom of the box, there is a nice paint scheme plan that looked to be close to the one found in the Monogram F-103 profile, I'll have a closer look at the instructions tomorrow.
My overall initial impression is that it is a very nice model kit and I look forward to putting it together in the near future.

I was just taking a look at the close-up pics of the preassembled version on Merit's website and was a little surprised by the decals. German obviously wasn't a first, second or even fourth language for the designer--lots of errors, probably by someone trying to duplicate something in a less than ideal photo without checking to see if it is actually correct.
