How I spent my Thanks Giving

Post by luftpanzer » Thu Nov 22, 2007 6:21 pm

OK I got tired of looking at that sorry looking fantasy camo job that 21st C did on their SS guy. And why in the heck did they paint silver buttons on the K98 ammo pouches. I have a real on sitting beside me and there are no buttons on the top of the pouch. So much for 21st C research dept.
Any how I down loaded a photo of a oak pattern SS smock and copied as best as I could. I repainted the whole figure except for the skin and I have to do somthing with the rifle. So have a look at my 1st custom.

wow great job! That camo pattern can be a biotch to paint, I've tried it before.

Ok I spent some more time today touching up the figure. After buying a super size magnafying glass today I was able to add a ss decal to the helmet and finish the collar tabs. I also took the head sculp from the afrika korp figure and painted his M43 cap into the oak pattern to match the smock. I still have to work on his weapon. I also brought a bunch of his cousins today at TRUs I plan on doing a lot of conversions.

ya, nice indeed :)
They do make the decals for the helmets and insignia in both dry transfer and wet-slide types. Saved me a ton of headaches  Da General
