I've had all the Dragon figures. German and American. They are nice but are for the most part static. The faces look to doll like and clean for me. The 1st series release Germans are the best bang for your buck. These all come with 2 full equipment belts and a zeltban. The weapons are 10 times more detailed than anything BBI or 21st have come out with. To me, the Dragon figures are a little oversized and go well with my 1/16 Pershing. What I did was, buy all the Dragon figures, take everything that I possibly wanted from them and then dumped the rest on Evilbay. This way I kept what I wanted, recouped some money and got rid of the unwanted stuff. All in all, I kept 2 U.S. Paratroopers and have a boat load of German accessories that are waiting to be used.

Actually, yes they can 8) You may need to shave the peg to get a 21c figure's head to fit on a Dragon body, however, the Dragon heads can easily go on the 21c figures.

Head swapping

Post by General Blasto » Tue Nov 13, 2007 5:40 am

I'll have to someday line up my creations of head swapping figures and custom faces, I know I've got way over 50 of them :P There are some "clones" or "twins" floating around, but hope to fix that. It'd make a good thread for folks to post their "custom" figures. I know I posted Klick, Burkhalter and Schultz as a few others, but many are still in the works too like Hofsteader and a few more German Generals. But there will be some good guys too, like Ike, Oddball and some other movie soldiers too ;) The General

Even though he's outta date, I got a George W. too :P
He just kinda happened when I was workin' on the figures

I personally like the dragon figures quality and the fixed poses they come in. They are also my best seller at shows.

Wow, that DOES look like Stiener :o
I gotta have one of those and I don't see any like him on Evil bay :( I'd trade even a tank for him :P But I'd need to make the one German officer that was with him at the end of the movie. I DO have a Col. or General made that looks like the other officer(forget the actors name) Guess I'll have to watch the movie :) The General

Maximillian Schell, that's the name of the actor who's the other officer that I was thinking of. The General

That is very interesting as I have that Stiener look alike and never knew this.

As for the Dragon figures, they are on the larger side as many have said already. IMO closer to 1/16 than 1/18 scale, but they work the same. The accessories are the best.

I don't think the Germans are bigger but the hands and heads are. The 101st guys seem to be the biggest. I like how the Dragon guys are bulkier - much more like a soldier would be, especially Germans with smocks. Wish their Pea-dot guys weren't so lame and that they made some FJ. 1/18 is one scale where Dragon couldn't hang and really got their asses kicked..

Maybe it's just the bulkiness to them, but they are much bigger than 21st C figures. bbi is on the larger side too, but Dragon are bigger still. It wouldn't bug me so much if they were more like 21st C and articulate. I think one reason Dragon never got anywhere in 1/18 is the lack of articulation.

Also the other thing that bugged me is some of the German & US figures have half heads. If you remove the helmet there head has a peg on it. I believe they are the ones that have 2 different helmets to choose from, but don't quote me on that as I haven't had my Dragon figures out for a while.

If anything I wish Dragon would just make accessories, because you can't beat them. If I have some time I'll take a few pictures to show the difference in detail.

Crp. Stiener

Post by General Blasto » Fri Nov 16, 2007 2:45 pm

I think I found him, or at least the parts in different figures.
Today I received 12 different Dragon figures, most of them East Prussia 1945. The figure that had James Corburn's head was a private and the package had the blue stripe, not the red one with the discription. Here is a shot without the helmet.

Now as I recall from the movie Cross of Iron, Stiener did NOT wear a helmet, but a cap instead. I swapped Stiener's head with a corperal's body to make him look better. Also if I remember right, Stiener carried a Russian Burp type sub-machine gun. I quickly crafted this gun he carries.

I think Stiener also wore a poncho of some sort. I will have to craft one after seeing the movie again. Right now I only have the movie on VHS and the tape is packed up in storage. So I've ordered it on Amazom and hope to see it someday soon.

If anyone has the capacity to grab a shot from video and post it or a few of Stiener, I'd be greatful so I can finish him up :) The General

It's not a great image capture but it was the best I could do on short notice. I don't recall Steiner with a cape, but I have not watched the entire movie in a while, mostly he's wearing the standard tunic, or the tunic with a coat of some kind, as in this pic.... click to enlarge....
