My Noob 1:72 Aircraft Collection

I've been collecting 1:72 aircraft about four months now, so I figured I would show off a few of my aircraft. My display area is the top of my entertainment center between my stereo speakers. Nothing fancy but I don't have a lot of space. Shots of the whole mess look really bad so I took them group by group. Note that these are just US aircraft. I have British, German and Japanese as well but they are for another day.

First up, an FOV B-25 and B-26 with a Corgi P-38.

Next, three Easy Model Corsairs. Just found the one with the snake on the cowling yesterday. Easy Model makes some beautiful Corsairs.

Next, Easy Model P-51 and my favorite model, P-47 "Big Ass Bird".

Here are two P-40's. White tail is a Corgi P-40E I believe. Too lazy to go look. The other one is FOV.

Easy Model Wildcat and P-39 Airacobra. Love the pre-war paint job on the 'cat.

Last but not least, the excellent Corgi F-86 Sabre.

And three I haven't opened yet.


Well that's it for US 1:72. Eventually I will post my British and German planes.

I mainly collect 1/72 with other scales on the side, but I like 1/72 for the detail and the small size allows for space considerations also..

Thanks! I had to give up 1:18 aircraft but I do still collect 1:32, they are perfect for hanging. I promised myself not to get into another scale but I couldn't pass up the FOV 1:48 enthusiast Apache Longbow at the hobby shop the other day.

I agree about 1:72 scale, the price, size and detail plus the huge number of models and schemes out there is great. Thanks for the link, I will be sure to check it out!

I sort of fell into 1:72 very much like you did, Rowsdower, and it continually grows. My dabble into 1:72 started back in 2003 when I lived in England and discovered Corgi. In fact, my 1:72 collection currently has the greatest variety of aircraft out of all the other scales I collect

Corgi makes some really nice models. Even their "budget" series with the fixed, retracted gear is great, I have quite a few. And I agree, the wide variety of 1:72 aircraft is a definite selling point!

Thanks. The FOV mediums are really nice for the price. Mine have some minor issues QC wise, but for the price they can't be beat, especially since I've always loved the Air Apache Mitchells.
