L2D2
No, it's not R2D2's cousin.....the L2D2 Tabby was a Japanese copy of the DC-3...about 500 built. I'm thinking of painting one of my Greatplanes DC-3's ( http://www.towerhobbies.com/products/gr ... 55_go.html ) as a Tabby and have it being chased by my new Hellcat. But before i can commit to the project i need more info on the Tabby, such as unit location, where and when missions flown etc. Does anyone know of a good source for such information. I've looked around online and can't find much. Any help apprecited.

in case someone cares, i've been doing some digging and it seems that the IJN lost 191 transport planes in combat situations, during the war. Since the Tabby was the principle transport plane used by the IJN it is safe to assume a good chunk of the 191 were Tabbys. Many of the Tabbys were based in the Caroline Islands, where they ferried supplies and personnel around.
I can imagine many a Tabby fell victim to Hellcat guns in '44
