I got my first Armor today.

I went by Toys R Us today, and picked up a 21st Century Sdkfz. 251/22 with Pak 40 German Halftrack. They had two of them for 15 dollars each. What a nice looking model. What do you guys think of this model? And can you give me some history of the real one? Thanks. :D

It is a great model and is actually pretty accurate to the real thing. It is the most detailed of the re-tooled halftracks, with the ammo storage detail and of course the Pak-40 (which is the same as the single boxed version, just minus the wheels and trails. All around a great model and one of 21c's better armor releases as of yet in my opinion :D

Sounds like you got them for half off as well, since they normally retail for $29.99 at TRU

the 251/22 came out in the last few months of the war (dec '44) at Hitler's insistance, in an attempt to get as many mobile anti tank guns fielded as possible. The pak was an excellent anti tank gun and the 251 a good vehicle but the weight and recoil of the big pak caused many breakdowns. All in all though, it served very well right up until the last day of the war.
