I say we let him. If he learns the rules and can get it in a week then let's let jrs. participate. I know I'm not the judge so this is just IMHO but we should let jrs. know soon so he can get started.

Well Ok here is mine. Cat 2 32X.
I am still using the phone camera and only know how to use an outside host for pictures? So click on the thumbnail and I hope it shows!
Simple story, France 1944 American Armor is pushing through bocage country. As they near a small French town a Panther is defensively positioned at a key intersection blocking entry to the town. The Americans attempt to take away its advantage by taking a short cut! To the American tankers surprise they pass through a hedgerow AND catch another German Cat being refitted. The Tiger crew and the troops rearming are caught completely off guard! The Tiger commander resorts to the only weapon he has!
I did this Diorama because of the great interest on a recent thread about Tigers versus Sherman. I also chose these pieces because the Tiger is the very first 21st century piece I bought. It started the whole thing. The Up gunned M4 was my most recent edition the last piece I purchased.

Thanks, I changed the thumb nails to a bigger size, new to posting pics. New to taking them as well, its the back drop and back ground that kills me?
I probably would have added a little more but as many of you already know the feeling the Wife thinks I am nuts, and my two year old loves to be involved. Loves to play tanks! So I had to put it up late at night and took it down before morning?
Need a spare room! I have some other photos I will put out soon, only picked five for the contest. have several more.
Thanks for the kind words! I cant wait to see the rest.

You know another thing is I am simply not as familiar with 1:18 like I am 1:32. I can look and see things but I guess spelling it out would help? Mods wise.
Like the two Airborne guys in the 1:18 dio look like they are wearing custom made pathfinder camo?? Those kind of mods should probably be detailed in the post?? I am sure the judges are familiar.
I know if people dont know 1:32 they wouldnt catch many of my mods? ( bigger better pics on my part may help!)
They are small but they are the best part IMHO. The guy runnning out of the Opel in my third pic, he is the same figure as the other side of the truck running, new pose after a boil and bend weapons swap etc, Tiger commander firing Lugar? NCO back of the opel etc, cullens on M4, if you didnt know 1:32 you could miss all these little pieces. The helmet cover repaints on many of my infantry etc. Or the p-dot cap on the tiger crewman up front!
If I learn to take better pics maybe that will help!

good point jrs. nice dio too BTW. I was going to talk about my dio a little more after the contest, but I'll point some mods out now. the figures are all bbi -2 paras , 2 rangers- the paras have been heavily cusomized as they started life as jump ready 's, but what i wanted to talk about was thier gear.
Notice they both have german weapons, scrounged, very little ammo. also they have a german canteen and mess kit (between them), but are not very visible in the pics i took. the 'scarf' is made of a piece of parachute that came with the figures, he is wearing a jeep cap (21c head swap) and his 'suspenders' are made of leather. the other figure doesn't have much, but notice that he is wearing a german belt, and his mohawk has grown in a little.
oh and a dead german in the foreground, relieved of some equipment.
thanks jrs, welcome aboard and keep up the good work
p.s. i'm cuttin it close with my 1:32 dio. its not going to be as good as yours. i didn't have much to work with

Cool cant wait to see your next one! Also I have seen the BBi paras at TRU, and thought it odd that the life preserves etc were fixed to the figures.
Looking at ur guys above gives me a far better idea of the work involved. They look great. I didnt think you would be able to get the vests and harness etc removed from those figures at all? Great job!
Its late on the 25th..... Where are the other 28 dioramas????
I also have a few other pics of mine I will post after the close or judging, with only five allowed its hard but once they have decided I will post another five or so.
Good luck to everyone. Also to Lightning, I want to say thanks for the sponsorship, win or lose no biggie to me. But knowing you decided to step up and do this with the prizes is first class. I have never bought anything from the motorpool but I assure you if I buy something in the future online it will be from you. Thanks to all who were involved!

Ending date ???
Please excuse me for not reading the entire thread, but I was just curious. When is the closing date for the contest ??? I don't think I will be ready intime with all the work left to be done. But is there a winter - spring contest coming up ??? That one I could enter perhaps. I got a call from a local distributor telling me my lighting fixtures/kits are ready to be picked up. So this way I can enjoy my camp in the dark too
Has there ever been an entry that was "lit up" and shot in the dark ??? This may be an intresting concept. I did a night shot for the outdoor trains way back when of a station shot with an engineer, conductor and station personal comparing time and handing off the orders to the train crew that was real cool. Well, just a thoguht

SAIPAN---JUNE 15,1944. The doors of the LST's swung open at 0700 and the first Amtracs of four assault battalions of the 2nd Marine division began heading out to their line of departure. One Amtrac (#27) carrying members of Fox company 2nd battalion 8th Marines were to land on GREEN BEACH 1 with the first wave. [/img]
---When the command for the assault came, shortly after 0800, the amtanks led the way.At first there was little incomeing fire. For a long, cruel moment the Amtracs hung on the reef, silhouetted and almost out of the water, their treads clutching at the coral and then plunging down into the deeper, quieter pools inside the reef.White geysers suddenly plumed in the waters between the reef and the beach. The Japs were shooting back in earnest, now. From the flat, wooded tip of afetna point,on the right toward the old Japanese pier, orange tracers fanned toward the Amtracs, caroming and ricocheting off the water and coral. At 0845 the first Amtracs crawled up onto GREEN BEACH 2( the Jap atillery fire pushed the Amtracs of 2/8 to Green 2 and not the attended Green 1).Some of the amtracs had decks red with blood, and others were awash from shrapnel penetrations. But the MARINES were going ashore, and all the Japs in hell could not stop them.
---[/img]
The Marines of Fox co. 2/8 became confused from not landing on the right beach, the landmarks which once had set off the assigned landing area vanished in the smoke and haze of battle. The remaining Marines from Fox.co 2/8 surged forward, inshore through the brushy thickets and south down the beach toward Afetna point.
---The men of Fox companys first platoon began to out-flank the pill-boxes that somehow had survived the pre-landing bombardment. With 2/8 Marines laying down cover-fire with M-1's,B.A.R.'s and tommy-guns,Fox co. flamethrower men began to knock-out pill boxes and other beach defences that were fireing on incomeing Marines in the 2nd and 3rd waves.[/img]
--- The rest of the day the Marines would fight and reinforce the land they had took from the iron grip of the Japanese, but nothing stopped the Jap artillery the first few days.By that afternoon the beachhead was some-what secure and every Marine on SAIPAN began to dig-in for the night and wait for the Japanese night attack which was sure to come.---RED---

Now if this is the entry case, then you can submit more than one photo if on the same theme or mission ??? This may be good, because I could do the same on my camp for the next contest
