Good pic of 21st's Nightfighter in the iHobby Show topic. Looks like the 1:32nd pics VMF115 posted.

It looks like a real winner, but for those that have the me-262 a single seater, you all ready know that the me-262 is going to be hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice model. I was wondering, should the top of the horizontal stabs be camo like the rest of the plane and not black? I would think the undersides would be black, but I am not sure about the top. Maybe they put the stabs in unside down?

Well, after looking at the model again, I guess the tops of the horizontal stabs should be black. I see there is black on the vertical stab where they attach. I am sure Roy got the paint job right.

Most impressive! I doubt WM will get any in or any other 1/18 plane for that matter, just my opinion. TRU I think is a maybe but I'm gonna go ahead and preorder one instead of wondering when and where they may show up somewhere.

Most of the references I've found say pretty much the same thing. Night fighters were either UT traning aircraft or front line fighters that were painted according to the current doctrine for day fighters and shipped. When Nachtjager units received then, they were the greygreen upper and pale blue under surfaces. The uppers were repainted lighter grey with blackand grey blotches and the under was sprayed black. Markings (with the exception of the "buzz number" were toned down low-viz types. Two pictures I have (one I believe of this aircraft after it was captured) appear to show the upper stab still painted dark greygreen....no reason given. It could be a repair that had not been painted by the time of the picture taking. So the paint scheme on "Rotte Zein" may not be off after all...nor the tail pieces assembled wrong. I'll try to find more.

I am sure there were variations in the paint schemes as these were done quickly to get the plane in service. The Germans sure had neat paint schemes.

G'day B24guy
If you look a little closer at the model shown, I think you will find that that the "horizontal stabs" are not black but instead RLM 02 Grau (Grey....Gray) or RLM 66 Schwarz Grau (Black Grey). If you look at the cockpit interior you may see that it appears to be the same colour and RLM 02 and 60 were both used as a stndard Luftwaffe interior colour as far as I recall.
Also RLM 02 is quite often substituted in place of other regulation RLM greys.

I know 21st makes about 4 vesions if not more on there products. I would love to see the other paints on there 262. I know they would never do this because collectors would pick and choose but it still would be nice to see all the color selections. Can't wait

Kirk Douglas : Mine hit the ground first
John Wayne : Mine was taller

I know it's black and white, but you can clearly see the upper surfaces of the tail are a darker single color. This is an older picture of the most complete Me262B-1a Nightfighter found in a museum in Johannesburg South Africa (serial 110305 from 10./NJG 11.)

Looks like Vexillarius is going to be busy making those segmented tail decals!

Interesting picture. While you can clearly see the upper surface of the horizontal stab. is darker, you can also clearly see it's not black, compare it's contrast to the underside black, which you can just make out along the lower edge of the fuselage.

21st has a set of four swastikas that comes with their me-262 and some of them are segmented.
