Prizes
Hi All,
Here's what I think we ought to do in terms of prizes:
First place prize in each of the two categories gets $100 of merchandise at retail, free of charge (plus shipping since some contestants arent based in the States).
Second place prize in each of the two categories gets $50 of merchandise at retail, free of charge (plus shipping since some contestants arent based in the States).
Grand Prize winner gets the recently released Unimax 1:16 scale Tiger tank (shipping not included). If you live overseas, and dont want to pay the freight for this heavy, then we'll have to work something out. I think we recently had to quote $200 for shipping to Australia. Never heard back from the guy, and I cant say I blame him!
So, that means we're kicking in $750 or so in prizes for this contest.

Who will be the first to post their entry?
Less than a month to go. I really want to start seeing these things go up.
Remember, post your photos and backstory etc to this thread! We can't be chasing down every thread on the forum looking for entries.
And, wow! Way to go on the prizes, Lightning!
Does Small Scale H.Q. award medals? I say Lightning ought to get one!

My Diorama in 1:18
'All over the place'
It was 0300 hours on 6 June 1944, when the 505th were given the green
light to jump.
On D-Day the poor weather conditions diminished the visibilty of
the initial "Pathfinder" aircraft. Many were unable to locate
their designated drop zones. Only the battle-tested 505th
PIR Pathfinders were accurately dropped into their Drop Zones
(DZ)*
Only a small percent of the troopers landed on the proper DZs.
This scattering of troopers played to the All-American advantage
since they were engaging a force from 4 to 10 times their number.
The German perception of Paratroopers being everywhere forced the
Germans to hold back their reserves and gave the 82nd a chance to
regroup.
Two troopers from the 505th found themselves stranded in enemy
teritory for many days. With most of thier own equipment lost from
the jump, they scavenged what the could. Some locals were kind enough
to offer food, shelter, and information on German positions to keep
them safe from capture. They knew that they had to find thier way to
the rest of thier unit, or other allies to re-supply and re-group.
After many days of moving slowly through 'hedgerow' country our two
troopers met up with the first americans they had seen since D-Day.
