yes, i was wondering about that and commented on it in an earlier post. For now the 1/18 line is just a Target exclusive so an 'enthusiast' line is not likely....and after reading the above review i wonder if it would even be possible, since many of the parts on the Bradley are static. Still, if the line proves popular anything is possible in for future releases i imagine.

Finally!!! I was able to load my pictures for posting.

Here are pictures of each of the 12 new figures from FOV's new 1/18 line.

There are a total of 6 new head and body sculpts out of the 12 figures. Head swaps have been done among the bodies along with different camo patterns with the Army vs. Marines figures. Still a good deal for new figures. Plus I've found that some of the heads from these FOV figures will swap with bbi's figures.

Here are the figures:

not bad, not bad at all. Nice representation of the digital camo. Do modern forces still use that broom type minesweeper?

Looks like some of the figures have afv style helmets on; useful for the Bradley and Abrams.

I wonder if these figs and vehicles will ever be going to online retailers. No Targets in Canada, even if there were they wouldn't stock 1/18 military, just like TRU and WM don't. :?

Here are some comparison shots of 21st's M2 Bradley and FOV's M3 Bradley:

The FOV M3 only has two opening hatches on the turret and the rear compartment ramp folds down. The TOW missile housing on the FOV Bradley is stationary and does not deploy. As mentioned in anoter post, detail on FOV's M3 is lacking in comparison to 21st's. However, I believe it is still a good addition to your collection since they are two different variants. The difference in size seems to be barely noticeable in the height of each. It is still a great piece in my opinion worthy of your $20.

As Aferg has said, hopefully detail will get better if the line grows. Even if it dosen't, I can live with what they are offering right now if it means getting a 1/18 T-34, T-72, and other 1/18 armor no one else will make.

So what do you think?

Hard to complain about the FOV piece for the price. Looks pretty good and I think it holds it's own against the 21st version.

The FOV Bradley looks great. This is a keeper. On the scale issue, who's not to say that the 21st version might be out of scale and too large? Has anybody done the conversion? The M3 does look great as do the figures. Just when I thought that I was done with 1/18 armor :!: :!: :!: :!: Great review Birddog!!! Well done.

Crap, those figures look great! It even looks like a tanker figure comes with the mix (or at least a figure that could be used for one!) I hope the figures at least hurry up and get to my local Target stores. They're already in California, but that doesn't usually mean anything... I'm down for a bunch!

The Bradley does look good as well, but when compared to my 21c versions, its just not the same...

Thanks for the pics, those figures are awesome, and I'm really diggin' the Weapons...nice mk19 and m2, perfect for a project I keep telling myself I'm one day finish! :-)

In regards to the Bradleys, the 21st is much more accurate in terms of size and shape, but for the price, the FOV is worth it, and does appear to be an more up to date A2+ model.

Thanks for the pics guys. The figures are Army builder's dream. Finally.

As for the Bradley, I remember measuring 21C Length and Width a while back and it was dead on. I forget if I measured height. Interesting though is that in the rear view of the two some parts of the fov Bradley are higher off the ground. So I wonder whose proportions are correct. I like it just for the updated armor and the rivets which allow for great after-market weathering.

usually when you compare models of the same machine from two different companies there are noticable differences, regardless of scale or whether they are pre-built or model kits that you assemble.

This is true of aircraft, armour, ships etc. Part of it has to do with the research material each company had to hand when the model was designed. Part of it has to do with how the research material/specifications are interpreted (remember they don't have an actual Bradley sitting in the boardroom when they design the model). And part of it has to do with the budget alloted to the model ie how much fudging is required and how much time given to the model's development.

Anyway, FOV can pump out all the slightly inaccurate armour they want to in this scale at these prices, and i won't complain....and i haven't heard too many complaints from others about it, so it would seem my feelings on this matter are not in the minority.

It will be interesting to see how the larger Tiger and Abrams stack up size-wise.

Well I did MY part to insure additional FOV vehicles! The Target I went to had 2 each of the Bradley and M1, so I got 1 each. Hopefully next series will have some russian armor.

5 days from the first post here in this thread to a Fla Target having them on the shelf.

Looks like some heat might have warped the cargo rack on the back of the turret. Pretty cool, and size vs 21c Sherman

Interesting this came right out of the box with no wire ties and the Bradley is all wired in. That's why I didn't take it out.

Paint looks much better than BBis M-1. Did it come with the rest of the barrel?

Birddog/scbvideoboy

Thanks for the reviews and pic's guys.

I'm thinking to get get at least three Bradleys (two desert and one forest) and maybe one of each version of the M1s and the Tigers also. Not to mention the figures.

Yep, but it's sealed up with the rest of the attachments and I usually keep everything packaged. After pictures its back in the box. But its good to feel the plastic and weight etc... too

I have a BBI one but didn't think to open it and compare for size. The trusty dirty and dusty sherman was easy to get to.

As someone said earlier, these won't be near 21C detail level, but hopefully if this line does well, maybe we can get some extreme variety in armor.

Something with a "T" in it?

They look pretty good. Have to agree that the details on the FOV are not as good as those found on 21st vehicles, but as soon as I can find them at my local Targets, I'm down for a few of each too. :D

That M1 looks to be as good, if not better, than the BBI version! The weathering is a very nice touch, as are the markings. If these blasted toys would simply show up in at least one of my area Targets, I'd be pretty happy

Part of me keeps thinking they are some sort of "test distribution" and only a limited number of stores will get them nation wide. Then again, it has only been 5 days...

That M1 looks good, not to mention the M3A2. I as well especially like the option of a newer variant.

So what if they aren't as accurate as the 21C or bbi offerings, at these prices they are an excellent base for some awesome custom work. I think 21C and bbi could learn a little something from FOV on their weathering techniques. Highlighted panel lines, subtle washes and shadowing add depth and detail far better than silver paint smears and fingerprints.

Still waiting for these things to show in my AOR. (Andy, I'll let you know when they show!) When they do, I'm going to need two shopping carts.

Grunt, great work as always. With all these companies the database is no small task!

The paint and weathering on the Bradley and M1 look awesome. I realize they are missing some details but as display pieces they look great.

The figs look like fun too. Some of the web gear is a bit too colorful but in general some great stuff from fov, and out of the blue!

we have a good bunch of folks here on the board; guys like Teamski with his aircraft profiles, grunt1 with his data base work etc. Sure is helpful. :)

According to Birddog, Unimax said they have more for the 1/18 line planned. I salivate with anticipation..
