What a great sight to see!
We had a Tuskegee Vet and a B-17 Pilot talk at a local warbird museum a few weeks ago. Both men grew up in Cincinnati and even went to the same school, but they didn't know each other. The color barrier prevented that friendship until after the war. The B-17 pilot "crashed" a Tuskegee reunion looking to see if anyone had protected his particular bomber group over Italy. That's when these two men found each other and found out how much they had in common. They became good friends and now tour giving talks on their experiences during the war.
I was unable to attend the talk, as it was on a Thursday during the middle of the day.
But there is a new book out on these 2 men. I will research it and add it to this post.
